Has anyone ever taken Maca Root? If so, why and what was your experience?

Thanks!

I started taking Maca Root a little over a year ago. It's GREAT. I started taking it because I heard somewhere that it was really good for the skin. It balances out your endocrine system and all that. I wasn't sure if it would work at first, but within days, I saw amazing results! My skin was clear and glowing.

ALSO, another great thing that I didn't expect--the ENERGY you get from maca is amazing. You just feel so clear-headed and stable and motivated. I get a lot done when I'm taking maca. It has a very strong taste, so I usually will mix it into a smoothie.

I use the organic powder from Maca magic everyday! (it does not taste good) My energy levels have increased and it helps to regulate my hormones, so i don't get so homicidal and weepy when I have PMS. the regulation of homrones have helped with my PMS breakouts too. I started using it because I stopped taking birth control pills 2 years ago and sex drive was messed up. It does make me more 'frisky' and I'm back to normal now.

Some women I know swear it helps with fertility.

My friend is Peruvian and I asked her how it's used in Peru. She said that they drink cups and cups of it, especially women who are trying to conceive and/or after they have the baby, to get their systems back in order. She puts it in her coffee and drinks this coffee/maca stuff.

HTH!

1/8 cup a day keeps me on track. If I'm stressed I'll double that.

I just googled it. I see several places you can purchase online. I am also wondering if you can purchase it as vitaminshoppe. I am off to check it now.

Update
Vitamin shoppe does carry it, but only in a capsule form. I saw the powder on ebay and several other sites.

I take it...I get mine from Vitamin Shoppe...

I was taking it first for a libido boost ...but then after further research found that it was good for your skin too!

It doesnt give me an energy boost but then again I take 1 capsule with 3 different meals per day....

I've always wanted to take it becuase it is suppose to curtail facial hair growth, but I thought that would make all hair growth stop.

So now I am learning that it balances hormones.

Default BUMP: Maca Root

Anyone still taking MACA? I just started taking the powder for energy not really for any other things like libido and stuff. But the extra roundness in the back was also motivation. Anyone with more positive results with long term use? Any ill effects.

ITA, I use it everyday sometimes twice a day after a workout.. I get mine from Vitacost.com because they are cheap!

I'll use this stuff for ever because I was having some serious hormone balance issues and this really helped a great deal!!

I recommend the powder mixed in a smoothie it's hard to get a good dose from the capsles. I put a teaspoon in my smoothies so that would be like 10 capsules I think....
