most people calculate from their big chop date and say my nappiversary is let say 2 years but i've been relaxer free for 3 years if they had transitioned for a year before they bc

I would think its your BC date because before that you are not natural. I see where some people put in their siggys the last relaxer date and then the fully natural date.

HTH

I want to say last relaxer, but that doesn't necessarily mean that "all" of your hair is natural so I'm gonna go with big chop... good question though!

I am BCing tomorrow, so I wasn't sure. Last relaxer was May 2nd. Didn't wanna be claiming the wrong dates. :lachen:

Thanks for clarifying, ladies.

I say big chop because before the chop you're basically still relaxed with a bit or tons of newgrowth. >_> When the chemically processed hair is GONE, THEN you are natural.

But some do have two anniversaries. :)

my last relaxer was march 2007, September 07 was when I was fully natural so this september I will be 3 years fully natural. Please let me get to APL by then LOL

this isn't a dumb question!

I'm obviously not natural but i always thought that it was the date of your last relaxer. i'm glad that i'm still learning things on lhcf!

I didn't BC. Last relaxer was 12/30/07 and I was fully natural (mini chops & breakage) by 12/30/2009 (took out extensions).

I didn't BC either but did mini-trims and I would say it's from the day I trimmed off the last bit of my relaxed hair and became 100% natural.

I said for date of last relaxer, simply because of the confusion when you see someone that transitioned for a year then BC-ed showing you their 6 month nappiversary, I think WOW all of that in 6 months?

I guess if its clearly stated when they transitioned then from the date of the BC...

I said my last relaxer, because I did not "big chop". I did slow trims. So I consider by anniversary July 2004, my birthday month. It took me about 2 years.

I calculate my natural anniversary from my Big Chop date. I stopped relaxing in October 2004 and then chop my hair off in May 2005.

Well, I said "Some other date" because I didn't BC...My date was the date that I had completely transitioned to natural. So, I was in the process of going natural for about 2 years before I was completely natural and then that is when I consider my natural "date"...However, for you, since you are planning to do a BC- I would say, count it from that day forward...

Yes that's exactly how I calculate it. I will be 3 years natural in September, but it will be 4 years since my last relaxer in Nov.

i calculate from my BC ( i stopped perming a year before, but since i flat ironed that whole year and had to cut off that damaged hair i really dont count it)....

i count from the bc. so feb 2011 i'd say that its my one year natural anniversary. but i'd let people know that i have 24 months of natural growth. so people won't get confused and discouraged thinking i grew 12 inches of hair in just a year.

I agree, ladies! I want to be clear b/c I have transitioned for a year.
