4b here! I'm new to this site and I still don't have a solid regimen. Just a poor college student trying to balance books and taking care of my DRY 4b hair. :)

My current length is...whatever this picture says lol

4b relaxed checkin' in. I'm just about apl now, 17 weeks post-relaxer. I relax tomorrow, and I cannot wait! It's been rough going the last 5 weeks. Flexirod sets and half-wigs have kept me from looking a hot flamin' mess.

Your hair looks good. Did you achieve that by blowdrying and flatironing? I'm just curious.

That is amazing.. Any tips on stretching? Also I admire you for self relaxing I used to do it when I was younger but now that I'm on my hair journey I'm too chicken to try it! let us know how it comes out

During my first stretch (27 weeks) I DC'ed weekly with Silicon Mix (I can't imagine stretching without this) and I wore braid outs and flexi rod sets. I moisturized twice daily with Darcy's Botanicals Coconut Lemongrass Transitioning Creme and I co-washed every 3 days.

For this stretch I discovered Lacio Lacio and I've been roller setting weekly...it keeps my new growth soft and my hair sleek even this far along in my stretch.

*I don't use direct heat

How often do you ladies relax?
i usually relax every 8 weeks when i get about an inch of growth but i stretched for 10 weeks once and had great results so i'm on another 10 week stretch... i'll be relaxing on monday and i cant wait! this new growth is something ELSE:perplexed....especially since i've been taking biotin now for 4 months (i've noticed a HUGE difference in growth)...i realized that if i DC twice a week, moisturize my new growth and keep it detangled, i can get past the 8 week mark without any issues

4B Relaxed Head checking in!
Normally stretch for 16 weeks. Winter for me, is all about minimizing shedding. Essential oils have been a huge lifesaver for me.

Grow that hair girl! My original goal was WL, but now it's TL. Really I'm just gonna let it grow until it stops! :drunk:

I relax every 6-7 weeks. I know I know. I don't know how to "stretch" without my hair being completely unmanageable. I'm going for at least 8 weeks next time; with the help of a straw set. Any tips on stretching?? I also run at least a mile every day so my new growth puffs up really bad.

Checking in: 4b relaxed here.

14 weeks post. have been in extension braids for 2 weeks now. This is my second long stretch, the last one was 12 weeks without extension braids. My regimen is DC 2X week I rotate with Megateck and Aphogee 2 mn (my hair just LOVE protein !)each time I wash followed by either ORS, Nexxus Humectin or Joico intense hydartor. Nexxus Emergencee every 2 weeks. Roller set 2X weeks. Past 10 weeks I have to use Humectin as a live in as my ng get so dry. It just soften it as butter for a few days between wahes. Heading for for 20 weeks post.

Relaxed 4b checkin in - I relax every 8-9 weeks, would like to go longer but there always seems to be some event coming up and i'm not big on wigs. 9 weeks would mean I'm due a relaxer on NYE, but that would mean looking off-key on xmas day, so might relax on xmas eve instead. The relaxer after that is valentines day so can't stretch further past that due date either, plus I have a wedding to go to around then...

I actually look forward to getting a relaxer sooner rather than later cos i find with no-lye that the first 4 weeks after a relaxer is bliss! Then the last 5 weeks i find i get quite a bit of breakage or shedding and my ends get really dry. Does anyone else experience this?

My ultimate goal is full mbl for my longest layers and bsl for the rest.

I hope this can become a support thread for relaxers.

What is your strategy for combatting shedding? It's driving me batty!

I use nutrine garlic shampoo ( or conditioner). It stops shedding right in its track ! Since I have started using it regularly I do not have any shedding problem. this is a stapple for me.
