Wearing braids for 6 years straight is not bad unless you don't take care of your hair and don't braid your hair right.

Is that peeling skin in the second pic. I think that some take skin bleaching too far, I can understand doing it to even skin tone, but this is too much.

The bleaching actually doesn't look that bad. I lurk on skincaretalk.com and they have a skin lightening section. A guy went from Lauren hill to mariah Carey. The peeling skin is probably from a chemical peel used in conjunction with lightening cream so the bleach can do its job. Media take out is acting like this is something millions of people don't already know. She must use very good sunscreen, a great collagen builder, and take very good care of her skin for it to not have any adverse hyperpigmentation. I wanted info on chemical peels to get rid of pih, and I could not believe how many people desired lighter skin. I was even more shocked with those peoples results.

I've used hydroquinone & done microdermabrasion with bleach infusions to get rid of acne scars. It works very well. I may have gone a 1/2 shade lighter but nothing as drastic as this woman. I loved it for the evening of my complexion and after 3 treatments over a 6 week period (combined with the hydroquinone), my skin was flawless.

I will revisit once I have the extra cash. My acne flared up & I have scarring once again.

I think they mean she wore the same braids for 6 years. The picture says she got them installed when she was 9 years old :ohwell:

Exactly. MJ and Sammy Sosa aren't the only people who bleach their skin or long for lighter skin. I must admit though until several years ago, I had no idea so many Black AMERICAN women bleach until I started looking up info for hyperpigmentation. :nono:

Y'all, MEDIATAKEOUT IS NOT REAL. The woman who allegedly bleached her skin is two entirely different people and they could have made up any story to go wit that first pic.

Come on now. Those two people's faces are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Look at the nose - lips - eyes.

PLEASE STOP GOING TO MEDIATAKEOUT I BEG OF YOU :cry3: :cry3: :cry3:

I swear I recognize my girl D.Lisha from the comments LOL! :giggle: Unfortunate case though for the second link, I have no words for that flaky skin just to be light and bright.

Regarding the Bleaching: Why does her nose and (top) lip look different in the 2nd photo? The half of the lip on "our" left looks fuller just past the center, and it's les defined.

How did she managed to bleach her nail bed too?

(the photo's look a little suspect to me)

This line made me laugh for some reason. "This woman wanted to be light skinned. So she bleached her face. And it don't look too bad" :lachen::lachen:

I'm Somewhat In A State Of Shock. Didn't Know It Was Possible To Lighten Ones Skin Tone So Dramatically.

True story: (years ago) I was a(active) member of a skin-CARE forum. That's my true interest. I left "frustrated" and "disgusted" because of the volume of posts about "us" bleaching our skin; and OMG, don't try to be the voice of reason there.

To add injury to "insult"; the folks lighter than me were very understanding and encouraging of them in thier "plight".

I gave up and started hanging out here; and joined

Thank you. It's not the same person. Why are the lips and the noses different then? Unless she had plastic surgery on top of the bleaching, which is possible but not probable since they're not the same women. :perplexed
