The twists that I installed on Sunday. There are 35 of them, so that I can try out the routine that I talked about in my earlier post. I just want to see if it will be beneficial to my hair. If not, after my 2nd curliversary on May 22nd I will install mini twists.

I finished my mini twists on the 6th, I'm trying to keep them in for more than a week this time lol. Usually around the fifth day I miss playing in my hair. One thing I love about them tho, is I can achieve a cute wash n go look on them

Washed my twists yesterday. Ends are doing fine with heavy sealing. Will be re-twisting this week. I've been keeping them in a bun. Maybe next time I will make them smaller and wear them down.

I'm back in. I'm still struggling with my length and the time it takes to do my hair. Hopefully I can stick to it this time around. My goal is to stay in finger coils for 15 weeks until my 1 year bc anniversary. I need to dig deep for some commitment.

1. What is your primary style (twists, braids, bunning, etc.)? finger coils

2. What is your style maintenance regimen?

wash every other week
DC with heat every week
Redo my coils every 5 days either washing/cowashing and put them right back in
Try to figure out a way to keep them moisturized during the 5 days.
Use NJoys growth oil on long wash days

3. Are you natural, relaxed, transitioning?natural
4. What do you hope to achieve from the challenge?

1. Help with my commitment
2. Better ends
3. A little freedom from daily hair care
4. Extra length and hopefully meet my 1st hair goal of NL

5. After wearing your hair out will you restyle after [Pick One] 2 days or 3 days? immediately

6. Include Starting Pic ASAP. (You will not be named an official challenger without one).

jesusislove1526,
Your twists look good, how long did it take for you to do them? I also love your hair color! Do you think twists that size will work better for you? The set of twists I put in this weekend were bigger than I usually do them. I'll see how they last, it was definitely quicker to put them in.

Put my hair in medium/large twists with braided roots. I will keep these in for another two weeks.

Tibbar- Thanks so much! I took me maybe 45 minutes to an hour to do them. So far they have been good, but I am concerned with cowashing the twists. Usually after I cowash I can't wear them many days after that because of the fuzziness. I really enjoyed taking so little time to put them in, though. Time will tell....

My twists are holding up fine. I redid most of them, but I'm taking them out next week anyway. My ends seem to be doing ok too. I think I'm going to straighten or rollerset and wear my hair out for a few days before bunning for a while.

I really like these two styles but I have no idea how to do them, when I start twisting I can never get all of my hair into the twist. Any tips? :(

My finger coils are holding in there. The last time I wore them I was doing heavy exercise and sweating profusely which ruined the coils. Now it looks like I can make it 5 or 6 days without much issue.

I left it alone Monday, but applied As I Am Hair Milk Tuesday and Wednesday and baggied. So far no problem. Don't think they are super moisturized but they aren't dry either. I will wash tomorrow and re-install either Saturday night or Sunday.

I washed my hair yesterday and the ends are coiling around each other which is what causes ssks. I think the key to me wearing twists is that I can't wash them, which sucks because that means I can't leave them in longer than a week. I'm going to take them out today and wear a twist out before I style again next week.

Can you put your ends on perm rods while you wash until they dry? Perhaps that will keep them from coiling.

I think I'm going to get senagalese twists for the summer. These buns are destroying my edges and my nape!

Took out my finger coils yesterday. I am going to have to find the right prepoo to get them out. I do a great job of getting them in because I can't get them out  The ends curl really tightly.

I prepooed with V05 and olive oil and water and baggied for 30 minutes. I tried to detangle. I could get through some pieces but the ends were in tact. So I rinsed in the shower and used the force of the water to help me detangle with a wide tooth comb.

I received some free samples so I washed with Farasue's Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner. It was ok. There are a lot of EOs in them to give your scalp that tingling feeling. Not my kind of thing. But the shampoo wasn't stripping. My hair was definitely clean and my scalp awake  The conditioner helped calm my hair down a bit and soften it back up. I DCd with a free sample of SDOT Conditioner for 2 hours. It did soften my hair up. All of these worked better than I expected.

I then DCd with Komaza Care Olive Moisture Mask overnight because my hair needed extra moisture after clarifying and I want to use the Komaza up. I'm now baggying under heat for 15 minutes.

I will apply As I Am leave-in (L), Farasues Hair Fertilizer (O) and Nubian Heritage Growth & Strength Treatment masque (C) with some Qhemet pomade for the ends.

I will put in the finger coils either tonight or tomorrow morning.

I think my coils can last longer but my scalp needs water after 4 days.

Wore a twist out last night for date night. Turned out really cute. Thinking about doing another set of twists for next week instead of the rollerset I had planned.

I'm going to henna tonight, and bun for the rest of the week. I'm going to start hennaing twice a month now. We'll see how it goes. It will be a trial period for the duration of this challenge. Question for you all...for those that bun and use a sock, do you wrap your bun in satin or a plastic wrap? I just soak mine in oil...

afrofaithful, I wear a sock bun but I have wrapped it in silk. If I use a scrunchie I will soak it in GSO.

Thanks! I actually found some satin scrunchies not too long ago, and just yesterday I saw some at the market for like €2, so I bought about 3. I notice this helps too with keeping ends moist. I soak those in oil also.
