Wow! she does know what she is doing!
The only thing I don't like is how she trims, I feel it looks a little uneven. I'm also being super picky :look:

Saying that I couldn't do any better and this video and her are still amazing!

I think she was going for a tapered layered cut. This way the curls could fall uniformly. They were very slight, which is why the appear uneven. Trust when the curls finally fall it will fall into a beautiful neat stacked U shape.

I thought that those ends needed to go. Between her her being dyed, and not having a trim in a year, she was due. It looks like she took off about 2". You could see from where the comb started to struggle, that she needed a trim, not a dusting.

And this is speaking from a person who will cut and 1-2" inches off in a minute, in order to have nice healthy ends :yep:

She used 6-7 passes at 450 degrees (including curling)? Woah. I'd say she burned the hair into submission! And that wasn't a hair trim, that was a hair cut. Anything over an inch goes into hair cut territory. I also didn't like the final style.

I don't like how she cut her hair :-(

The end result came out nice but what if homegirl ever wanted to wear her hair totally straight. You can clearly see all the uneven cuts that look like a botched attempted layer effect.

Plus that is so much heat she used. I guess this is why I do my own hair. I'm too picky about stuff like this...

Yeah, ditto. This is why I have to stick w/doing my own hair. They wouldn't get through the first quarter of my hair.

It came out very nice. Im taking notes lol. I thought she would do the chase method, but apparently she didn't need too. Her hair was Bawse-status.

pretty!
I think the comb chase method would have helped with smoothing the ends. it is a must for me as a type 4 natural.

I'm surprised that as a professional she didn't use the comb-chase method. Type 4b/c ends don't get straight without it. You will always be left over-trimming hair w/o proper technique.

I've seen this one before and was like :thud: w/all that heat. I can't do it. :nono:

ETA: And her ends weren't that bad. A 1/2" could have been fine. Ends don't have to be perfect imo especially if you don't wear your hair straight all the time. They are the oldest part and aren't gonna look like the roots.

The end results looked very beautiful and healthy but the heat and cut scared the crap out of me. Lol

Too many passes, and I agree, if she used the comb chase method she probably wouldn't have felt the need to trim as much.

Wooow. She sure felt confident in that heat protectant's 450F advertising. I can't help but wonder how well the hair reverted.

The end result is very cute though.

She did a great job. She cut her hair the way every stylist I ever been to does it. I think it is to help the hair fall better.

This is why I stay away from stylists. I would never have long hair if I let them do what was done to this client's hair. No protein treatment, heat at 450 degrees-really???, multiple passes at 450 degrees, excessive detangling, and worst of all tearing through her hair with that rat tail comb!! She used the Denman brush on dry hair.*smh* All of this for a style? It's not worth it to me. I'm interested to know if the client has heat damage.

ITA with the rat tail comb comment. All those things she did are damaging. Excessive combing, high heat multiple passes. Wow.

I like that she didn't have to use direct heat prior to flat ironing. She also deep conditioned the clients hair twice if I'm not mistaken. I also don't think she's a professional stylist. Just someone that is very hair savvy. I like her and her tutorials. I think she needs to work on her trimming but being that the client is color treated and hasn't trimmed in a year I guess I see where she was going with the trim. She could've trimmed less but she didn't scalp the woman.

^ IA. She did a pre shampoo and a DC under the dryer and I like that she didn't blow torch the hair to death with a blow dryer. A trim was needed but her technique looked off (it seems like she missed pieces of hair at some points). Also 450 is mighty high especially when you're taking 3+ passes on the hair.

If you only get your hair straightened once or twice a year like I do, the amount of heat isn't so appalling.

The video wasn't bad. I'm now on the lookout for the heat protectant, but I don't ever flat iron my hair over 380 :nono:

The curls look good, but I really wonder how the client's hair reverted.
