Someone suggested since I have been natural since 2008 that I try this product. Has anyone tried this and if so what are your results?

Welp...I havent tried it on my entire head yet. But I did try it on a 4c patch at my temple last night. The hair has since bounced back with water, even moreso with sulfate shampoo (one lather), a protein rinse out conditioner, and deep conditioner. I will be applying the entire thing tonight. What I've learned regarding the products:
-the shampoo is very runny! Be careful.
-the leave in will dry on your hair and possibly create tangles despite through detangling. So i have my hair in 4 sections and applied the leave in to the front half to keep from having to rewet hair that already has the leave in applied, thus risk manipulation in an undesirable state
-wash your hands after using the product. Gloves are supplied, but I dont feel like I can truly FEEL my hair with gloves on. To prevent any discomfort, I wash immediately. Not like ive had any issues. But just in case
-dont wear nail polish if you arent wearing gloves. I think the product kinda eats at the polish a little
-some amazon reviewers said their hair felt dry a few times after the treatment. Mine didnt feel dry oer se, but it wasn't moisturized. So I applied a bit of moisturizer and my hair felt great

I'll try to remember to come back and post my results. But if they're at all like my test patch (which I HIGHLY recommend you do btw), then all should be fine

I used this product about 6 months ago, and sadly it did not work for my hair. My hair reverted the next day. I was really disappointed because my hair will never last for a day when straightened. I know I take long showers but this product was supposed to negate the humidity from the shower.
Since I still have product left, I will try it again and apply more product.

i posted a whole review awhile back....i will find it and link it here.

my tips:

deep condition BEFORE you use the shampoo. the shampoo is very clarifying. you need to have your hair nice and moist and conditioned before you use it.

i got my best results the second and third time i flat ironed after using the anti reversion shampoo and conditioner that comes with it. i think hair does better after it has been treated...just my experience. i used it the third time a week ago and my hair is still like silk right now.

test it on your hair first. try a patch before you go all out. i had no issues, but some ladies said their scalp was sensitive to it....i have a sensitive scalp and i was fine.

detangle and section your hair FIRST! don't apply this stuff to hair that needs to be manipulated.

use a small amount of heat protectant. i don't care what that bottle says..use heat protectant! my hair was bouncy and shiny and light and i use Chi Silk heat protectant.

fyi....i have 3 c hair that is fragile and i used 395-400 degree flat iron with no problems and my hair fully reverted every time i washed it.

Thank you sooo much for that review!! OK.. so your advice is to prepoo FIRST. I'm going to do that and get this product today. I have been so jealous of my relaxed friends with their straight hair, and hating my frizzy hair that will revert at the drop of a dime I have been temped the last few days to just throw a relaxer in but afraid if I do that I wont retain my length that took me five years to get so thank you I will get this product today!!!!!

I don't think a relaxer is necessary. You just have to find your products that work. It took me three years to find something I was happy with. Hang in there. ;)

At the end of October, my stylist used the design essentials strengthening treatment and giiiirl, my hair was smooth as silk with only one pass of the flat iron (it can get that silky when marcell irons are used, but I don't allow that anymore). It's a type of protein treatment, cystine I believe (it wasn't as intense as bkt), and my hair stayed straight even when walking in the rain. It lasts about 3 months and my curls have completely reverted. I wear my hair natural most of the time, so that was a huge concern for me. It can be expensive in the salon, but my stylist has very reasonable prices. I plan on doing it again when I straighten in May.

I used the system last night and loved it, but I also have samples of Aveda's. Do you prefer Aveda Dayjoy?
Here's a thread about it. I also gave a review in it. I remember liking the product, but I've since moved on to Aveda Naturally Straight which I LOVE. Maybe you'll want to check that one out too.

I prefer the Aveda. Aveda does not lock you into using their products only. Also the Aveda added more shine and bounce. Smells better too. But I use it only in the summer. DD's hair holds pretty well in the winter, but the Aveda holds her flat iron the absolute best in the summer.

Dayjoy do you only use the naturally straight product or do you use the smooth infusion shampoo and conditioner as well?

I just use the Naturally Straight and it works very well. If I weren't so cheap I'd try the shampoo and conditioner. I might just get a sample size to see if it works even better with them. Maybe.

I think I'm going to try the aveda. I'll have to find a place that sells it because I don't want to order online.

Dayjoy have you been able to completely wash it out and revert back to original curls yet? I've been watching videos but haven't seen anyone fully revert yet.

I haven't used it on my DD since the summer and her hair fully reverted. I think we only made it to three or four applications. I save it for the humid summer since her hair seems to last ok in the fall and winter.

my baby would like to wear her hair straight more often, and I can see her ends better. I think I will try this in a couple of months for a special occasion. I straightened her hair last Friday and it took hours!
