Really? It just did the black out thing when I posted a pic in the hair forum

Forreal??? Ive never had an issue like that. Are you on the app?

I also didnt realize earlier that we would be using the MOBILE version, I imagined just the regular internet. Now thats terrible, I have to move the screen around to read the page. But if its a mobile formatted version Im assuming itll be ok. Hopefully...

I think a responsive site is a good move and folks will be pleasantly surprised. However, Nikos (hey dude! long time no see), yall might consider keeping the app "shell" as a gateway. I've seen sites that do this and as long as the site is designed right most folks won't even know they are just going to the regular site. The issue is a lot of us (myself included) have gotten used to the single entry point of an app. And while the argument might exist that it's just as easy to open a browser, go to favorites and select LHCF from the multitude of bookmarks you have, it's just as easy to forget the site exists without the physical presence that an app provides. Out of sight, out of mind...

I was gone for a long time until I discovered the app. If I don't have the visual reminder, I forget it's here.

I've had to delete and reinstall the app so many times because of posting pics. I stopped posting them for awhile until I figured out I could only post 1 pic for the app not to blackout and die lol.

I know I've mentioned it before in a previous thread but...

Why doesn't the site do what it did before? Add a plugin to the database so that the site can be ran on apps such as Tapatalk and Forumrunner???

Tapatalk is FREE and Forumrunner is FREE

I can't remember the last time I accessed the site from a computer.

Please don't take my app away.

Initially we used Tapatalk for the forum. That was 4 years back maybe more. They charged us 1,500 dollars per year for it and they refused to fix anything that was broken for certain phones unless we paid them $45-$50 an hour.

I then found Rob who created ForumRunner and once we installed it we were really happy. He was really responsive to requests and bugs. At that point (3 years ago) the app was working perfectly for all users. He even added the thank you functionality.

Rob sold Forum Runner to Invision Boards, the company that owns vBulletin (through acquisition). The first year we did have a few updates but only when I would repeatedly open tickets etc. The last year (see last update date of your app) there have been no updates. When I inquired about it they answered "No we are not sunsetting the product" and "No we do not have any update coming soon". Paraphrasing a bit but that is the gist of it.

There are no other quality apps out there. Mobile apps for forums are dying because of responsive design of the actual site. Most apps that emerge nowadays are shells to just launch the site in an embedded browser, so effectively you are accessing the mobile version.

I know that a lot of ladies love the app, but if we cannot offer a quality product to you, what is the point? Give the responsive design of the new forum a try. You might be surprised.

dimopoulos I see what you are saying but this is the day and age of Apps... I think it would be a bad idea for the sustainment of the board to take away the app . I rarely have problems with it, and when I do they are minor. Most people in here are asking to keep the app. So, again, the problems are very minor in comparison to removing the app altogether.

It may not be that bad not having an app. I just hope that the mobile site won't ask me to login over and over again.

Idk how androids work but for members with iPhones you can just save the site to your homepage so it can appear like an app.

But then again it may be annoying when we click the shortcut it'll keep opening a new window in safari.

Okay on second thought.. Please make a new app please please

I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong.

how do you make the page appear like an app?

Is that only through safari?

NOEChic: when you're in safari, there's a box with an arrow at the bottom of the screen. Touch it, and you'll see various options, one being "add to home screen". Save it like that, and it'll show up on your home page, just like an app would. :yep:

Thanks for explaining, but I'm still confused....
Have things probably change from the last time Tapatalk was used on the board? Reason why I am asking because I am curious why was their a charge of $1500/yr for usage when Tapatalk's FAQ state's otherwise?

I know if you want to customize it a little further, there's a charge of $69 a month with a $99 setup fee. But basic setup and adding the plug-in should be free otherwise.

It's just out of curiosity why so many other boards from small and much larger then this one use Tapatalk as their main app but why are we having problems utilizing it? Even though I have no problems with using my web browser to log into lhcf, sometimes I (and it seems many others) like to use an app for the convenience. But hopefully like you stated, this shouldn't be a problem with the new updated site.

I generally prefer mobile access sites over separate apps. I think they are usually more convenient and usable.

The only thing about this layout is that the background is white...it's just very bright.

Video embed capability would be great.

I believe once the site is fully updated, you should have the option of choosing what color scheme layout you want ;)
