Mustard Seed Oil

I use it a lot and it helps with growth. I've used it in my conditioners but most recently started to mix it with my castor and peppermint oils for my scalp only because it doesn't really do anything for my hair but for my scalp I like it.

I have a bottle which I've just thought about pulling out again.

Really hate the smell, but if I can use Neem Oil, I can certainly use Mustard Oil.

I was using it on dry Hair under Saran Wrap & a couple plastic caps for a few hours as an "Oil Soak" and then Cleanse it out.

Makes a really great Pre-Rx once you get past the scent. Determined to use it in the next few wash-days.

Has many wonderful benefits.

Earlier this year I used it mixed with Green Magic and I saw an increase in growth. I wasn't consistent so the bottle is just there.

I recently used it in an infused growth oil for my bf to use on a balding spot and he's seeing good results. He's been very consistent with it and also uses a shampoo scalp massager to massage the spot he put the oil on.

It's great for scalp massages and it is an irritant if left on your scalp for long periods of time. It's also a powerhouse of minerals and vitamins. Great for hair growth if used consistently.

So I was reading where naturalistas were using mustard oil and cinnamon together. Anyone tried that? I am going to try it as a scalp massage and maybe hot oil treatment later this week.

@mssoconfused

That sounds like::couchfire:

I have a bottle of Cinammon Oil (I think I still have it).:mwahahafire:

It left me with scabs on my Scalp.

Boy...it took a lot of 'soothing' to relieve that pain.:crybaby:

I think I used too much back then.

I got it when I was going through my Dominican Product phase.:look:

I wonder if I still have it? *cough*:look:

But I'd never use the two together. I'm not that brave.

Maybe the cinnamon oil is more potent than actual cinnamon? Hmmm...I'll be sure to dilute it well. Maybe add some JbCo to the mixture?

Gurl....That Cinnamon Oil to' me up!

I think you were suppose to apply with a Q-Tip down your scalp area once or twice a week. (After I actually read the directions).

Of course I misused it and got burnt. Literally. No pun intended.:campfire:

Mine actually 'expired' in 2014. @msbettyboop

But I stuck it in the Fridge anyway. Smelled okay.

Not sure if I am brave enough to use either. (Mustard or Cinammon Oil)

But I'd be willing to take my chances with Mustard Seed. Not so sure about the Cinnamon Oil.

I have a corner left in the bathroom cabinet of mustard oil which I had bought at a local Indian store. I had seen a YouTube video a year or so ago about how mustard oil saved this 1 girls hair from damage and split ends. She would oil her hair from root to tip, comb her hair through, put hair up and let sit.
I ONLY use it if I'm out of coconut oil to do my pre-poo on wash day where I slather my hair with oil followed by Trader Joe's Spa Nourish Conditioner and then more oil. To be honest, this oil does really stink. When I use the mustard oil there's often times I feel like puking because of the smell. Just saying.
Try it. You and your hair just may like it.

I would def NOT mix these 2 oils together.....either on your hair or your food! :bling:

Cinnamon and mustard can have a "hot" quality be that in food or in hair. It's just the nature of both of these beasts. They are spices, after all! :giggle: I've used mustard oil...both commercial prods and my own homemade ....neither burned but they DEF stink like the dickens. :giggle: I'd save these oils (and neem too) for either pre-pooing or using them when you know you're not gonna be around other folks, cuz they "kick up Jack" as my great-grandma used to say! :giggle:

Well it CAN be. The oil is merely an infusion of cinnamon and whatever oil you choose, but it depends on how much spice you use in the infusion and how long you have them on heat. Heat can DEF intensify a spice. In cooking, it's known as "blooming" a spice.

I personally wouldn't use JBCO to dilute an infused oil, but I am allergic to it. That said, I'd use a lighter cold-pressed pure oil (JBCO is a heated and concentrated oil in itself) to dilute an infused oil...maybe soybean and hempseed (my personal 2 favs) or maybe olive or jojoba, etc....something pure and light. IMHO, JBCO is too heavy an oil to use to dilute anything infused.

So I decided to not dilute the mixture. I actually used cinnamon powder and mustard seed oil. I let the cinnamon steep in the oil for a few days before applying. I applying the cinnamon paste directly to my scalp and pulled the mustard oil down the strands. I then massaged for about 1m for each part in my hair (4 parts). I got lazy and decided to add a deep conditioner on top of my hair too, lol. I sat under a heat cap for about 90 mins then slept overnight.

It was a mess to wash out...harder than henna. I can't say that it *did* anything but it didn't burn. It was warm on my scalp but definitely no burns. My hair smelled great after, lol. I got tons of compliments on it.

I noticed Naturelle Grow has a Cinnamon Oil now. I wonder how hers compares to the Dominican version?

Lesson Learned from the Dominican Cinnamon Oil = Read the Directions and Follow them.

OT: Another Product that brings the Heat = Strong Roots Red Pimento Oil:mwahahafire:

I've tried the strong roots pimento oil and felt nothing at all. My scalp may be made of steel. Take my advice with a grain of salt Yall. Nothing has burned (or even irritated) my scalp since I got relaxers, lol
