Where Is Everyone?

I noticed for a while that there hasn't been that much activity on the forum. Is there a reason for this? I personally haven't been posting much myself because I don't find much variety is posted like there used to be. Is it just me? Or have hairboards passed their peak? Let's talk.

I rarely post in the hair forum anymore because I'm kind of on cruise control. I'm not anxious about my next length milestone (WL), and I wear my hair the same way 99% of the time. I'm just waiting for my transition to be over, but I have at least 2 more years. In the meantime it's just the same old same old.

I've wondered the same. It seems like a lot of people are spending time in the OT and ET threads, and perhaps not as many newbies are joining?

I'm still really new, but did notice that sometimes when I post, the question doesn't seem to get as many responses as there are on the old threads I read (a huge thanks to those that have answered!!). I thought I was just asking silly questions :p (probably am)

I'm still a newbie but I've noticed the dwindling posts on this side. When first joined, if I missed a few hrs, the random thread used to be pages ahead, now days can go by with only a few new posts.

It's a shame the random thread in OT went poof. That had me lurking and posting there a little more.

I'm finding I spend more time in the other areas of the board. They seem more active. I still post in the hair area here and there. Mostly in the wash n go thread because that's how I wear my hair 99% of the time. I'm thankful I found the site when I did. It helped me out a lot, but over time my needs have changed. I'm sort of on autopilot with my hair I've found what works and I'm cruising along. Also my post started to seem redundant to me so I cut down on posting.

On another note its good to see you posting again @Napp.

The is no new or useful information other than product reviews and sale notices. the best information for retention techniques are in the archives. It was more variety then. The curly girl routine took over and turned everyone into ingredient, heat and regimen nazis. Back then there was info for everyone. It didn't matter if you used heat, relaxed, used silicone or mineral oil. You could wash daily or twice a month. There was support for everyone. The method really didn't matter as long as it produced results. Now everyone is about the wash and go or extended protective styling. There is no in between.

I don't know. I just haven't felt like posting; and been really busy. I take long forum breaks to meditate and such. Apparently everyone has bounced about the same time! I wonder if anyone will respond to my update posts. I noticed no one really posts "pic heavy" threads or updates anymore.

Kinda on the opposite...I started paying attention more to this side again after about two yrs of not really coming to the site (still paying the yrly fee though). Honestly I don't really come here for new techniques but more for new products and reviving old techniques.

I know I personally only peek into the hair side every now and then post and then disappear. I'm mainly in the health section and a few others. But I have notice alot of people have disappeared it's sad I hope this side picks back up.

I still love the Forum and love talking Hair. I still enjoy it.

Hopefully, this is just "ebbs & flows" of folks being busy and because it is Summer.

I'd like to ask the members from 07 and lower if they've seen a lull like this?

Perhaps it will pick up Fall/Winter? I think things will pick up once folks are kinda 'stuck inside' and not outside as much enjoying the weather, traveling, etc.....Summer is leisurely, even at the Gyms.

However, I'd like to see folks start more interesting and thought provoking "Threads" (like this one) lol.

The Thread topics of times past are what drew me to the Forum in the first place back in 2009.

And we have some very smart, talented, scientific women still on the Forum, I wish folks would just post more interesting/entertaining threads related to healthy hair care etc....

Just my two cents.

Well...I'll say that to me, it seems that the tone of threads changed with the 'natural vs. relaxed' heads going at it. Posters became vicious in some forums, and people weren't always accepting of viewpoints different than their own.

Then I would see people being made fun of, veiled disrespect and bullying-type behavior in the threads. Lots of locked threads from that.

There was a feeling for me that any input I gave was largely ignored because my hair isn't a glamour-length. There were others that felt the same as I did.

Even newbies who posted questions would be told to "search" for an answer, as if people didn't have time to respond.

I went on hiatus for a while because of these shenanigans as it became unpleasant.

I returned this year to a more civil experience on the board.

Maybe some folks just grew tired and disgusted with the antics....

My 2 cents
