Looking For A Good Flat Iron

Hi Ladies,
I am searching for a good flat iron. I currently have a babyliss pro ceramix extreme and it does a good job. My issue is that once my hair is straight, it's really tangly, and I can't run my fingers through it.
I don't know if this is technique or what.
Can you recommend a good iron that's under 200?
TIA for your help!

Are you doing the comb chase method? This was a game changer for me. My hair is smooth and detangled from root to tips now no matter what iron I use or what temperature.

I have a Jilbere Tourmaline 1 inch iron and a Pluggedin Wet/Dry iron. I bought both from Sally's for around $40 each.

I don't have a suggestion but I recommend you DON'T get a babyliss pro nano titanium. I know it's a popular one but I was disappointed with mine.

Edit: I read the entire post and you do have a babyliss :lachen:. So yea I totally believe the flat iron might be contributing to your lack luster results. My old Remington flat iron gave me smoother, straighter hair than that thing.

I have several but my favorite and the only one I'd recommend from my collection is the FHI platform.

Tell me about your flat iron process. Maybe we can figure out if it's your technique before you purchase one. I'd hate for you to buy a new iron and still end up with tangles.

I wash and moisture dc with steam. I use redkin pillow proof heat protectant and diamond shine as my only 2 products. I then blow dry and it gets pretty straight. Then I flat iron. I don't use the comb chase method. My hair comes out straight, but it's still tangly, if that makes sense. The ends are straight, but like I said my hands get caught when I run my fingers through my hair. So not cute.

Eta: I don't need a trim, just got one and I don't need protein as I just did an aphogee tx 2 weeks ago.

Your process sounds good.

You are straightening on clean & moisturized hair. Sounds like you make sure your hair is strengthened and protected with the products you use. I'm also assuming that your hair is fully detangled before you flat iron since you mentioned you blow dry beforehand. Like you, I don't use the comb chase method either. My technique is pretty similar to SisterWithRealHair where she just kind of holds the hair and swipe the flat iron down slowly or just spread the hair in between the fingers and flat iron.

The flat iron could be the culprit. I also had a baby liss pro. I ordered it from a seller on Amazon and I thought it was fake since it wouldn't close all the way. (Clamp wouldn't shut down on my hair when ironing) So I returned it to the seller and purchased a different one from a salon. Same issue. Plus I felt it left my hair kind of dull though I didn't have tangle issues. I ended up gifting it to my step daughter...she uses it on her weaves only. She hates it on her natural hair. It gave her heat damage and she used it on a low setting. I think like 300.

I really like my Remington. I know we kinda push the 3-letter ones here but that one has been good to me. It has a digital temp readout and it warms up quickly.

The Sedu Revolution is the one I've used for over 3 years now and I LOVE it. My hair always comes out straight and shiny. Before that one I had the original Sedu which I also loved but it short circuited on me.

I have that flatiron and it's great but it doesn't get my roots. They always poof up like I never flat ironed them. My damaged hair looks awesome though lol. Does this happen with you?

No I can't say that this happens to me. My hair gets pretty straight with a roller set. I use the FHI on low heat just to get out any lumps and bumps left over from the roller set as well as to knock out the curls.

I love the royale but don't buy it from the people in the mall lol it's online for like 24.99 you pair it with comb chasing and you're good to go.

I purchased the Hana Professional and it's great but the royale gives me more shine.
I still have to comb chase with both.

I went to Sallys and asked for a flat iron that's just as good as the chi and FHI and she showed me one... Can't remember the name now but that might be a good plan for you if money is an issue... Will tell you the name when I get home..

Maybe I need to rollerset to get my roots straighter because blow drying alone ain't cuttin it
