Hi guys! I've been lurking for a while and this is actually my first time posting as a member on here. I'm only 17 and I'm looking forward to getting guidance from you guys in the future. :)

Anyways, I'm almost 7 months post relaxer and I'm starting to transition to natural. Right now I'm in box braids and my goal for this year is to not cave in and relax for the whole year and to figure it some styles that I can wear out with the two textures. I'm hoping I can transition for 2 years.

I've already reached my first mini milestone of "Whip" length! :reddancer: this month.

My next goal is to grow it to Hip Length. And then every 2 to 3 months I'm going to trim off an inch to help thicken up my hemline until I have a nice and fuller looking U-shape :)

I should be done with growing out my hair in about 2 months and then I'll be in maintenence mode. I've been waiting on this since 2011!

Not in Maintenence Mode yet, I ended up trimming about an inch off in January. I had a bunch of split ends and fairy knots. :(

I'm gonna be more realistic and hope for hip length in June. :yep: Especially since it's getting hot in Florida, I'm looking forward to daily cowashing again! :) Co washing and damp buns.

@SmilingElephant I'm sure your hair is just as gorgeous as I remember!!! :gorgeous:

For 2016, I have some breakage in my nape area and front- so I want those to grow out. I want retention and length...Heck, I want it all!:drunk::look:

I'm still using my sulfur oil a few times a week. I'll do my first quarter length check week after next. I'm due for a trim too

so i'm trying to get my hair all one length. i think i'm might start mn as a topical growth aid. maybe mix some of my sulfur powder in it and wild growth oil
Mn is great! I use it once a week mixed with aloe vera juice and peppermint oil. I use sulfur oil a few times a week too. I might as well just make a mix that combines both...

So, today I had something very interesting happen. I was washing my hair and realized that my hair felt "heavier". Yay!!!. For years it felt wispy and light. The flip side, I'm using more conditioner than before

I've been sticking to my higher protein diet along with nearly daily applications of JBCO, emu and peppermint oils. I've taken my MSM and 10K biotin daily along with my iron, vitamin D3 and other stuff. It's not fast growth but consistent which is encouragement in itself. I'm Exercising more and more. The pictures alone tell me it's working.

In January, my front part looked more like Moses parting the Red sea. Now the gap is closing and the new growth is definitely there. My alarming balding spot at the back of my hair is also growing new hairs and I'm seeing less and less skin.

So, my goal for the six month mark is to see more volume, not necessarily length although I'm currently seeing both.

I'm kinda late to the party, but I have 10 hair goals this year (probably way too many, lol!):
  1. I want my hair to reach under my boob when pulled to the front and straightened.
  2. I want to try the max hydration method (it just sounds like SO much work).
  3. I want to do more protein treatments.
  4. I want to focus on my retention and try to decrease breakage and shedding, especially on wash day where I lose a TON of hair.
  5. I need to figure out to how to correct this heat damage I got and get my curls back to popping!
  6. I want to find a realistic straight looking weave to wear so I don't have to straighten my hair.
  7. I want to try more natural hairstyles.
  8. I want to color my hair after I reach under boob length, lol.
  9. I want a good trim.
  10. I want to visit a natural hair stylist that can shape my natural hair.

@NaturallyBri87 wow! I see a major difference in the shedding. Does the oil smell bad?

Yeah it does lol. But I apply it on a day I know I'm not going anywhere. Which is usually Sunday after church. Leave it in overnight and by the morning the smell is mostly gone but I put a fruity smelly moisturizer on to mask the small until I wash it out. the only time I smell it once I moisturize is when I'm working out. I guess it comes out when I sweat. I'm so glad it worked!

In 2016 I want to
- Retain and stop the crazy breakage
- Develop a routine that works with me
- Rely on styles other than buns

I'm so lazy with my hair, but my hair cannot thrive on just water rinses, cowashes, and buns. Every time I touch it, wet or dry, globs of hair would come out. I'm surprised I still have enough to pull into a bun every day. I need to strengthen my strands and grow out the areas that broke off or that I cut out due to knots. I'm going to use protein DCs, which is something I've never done before. I'm going to shampoo instead of cowash. I'm going to apply a leave-in moisturizer on wash day and more throughout the week.

I have my next 4 wash days planned out. I am using Ion scalp shampoo weekly followed by these masks:
Week 1: Chroma Riche
Week 2: Therapiste
Week 3: Masquintense Thick
Week 4: Maskeratine

My Kerastase masks make my hair look and feel so luxurious. My hair has improved so much just this year. I'm looking forward to my progress in the coming months.

My 2016 Hair Goals are:

1. Be more gentle with my hair.

2. Baby my ends.

3. Gain & retain 6 inches.

4. Reach MBL.

5. Be more confident about my natural hair and wear it out at least once quarterly.

6. Reduce my product stash.

Goals 1, 2 & 6 = I have been consistently doing these goals.

Goal 4 = I did my quarterly length check today and my hair is BSL, so I am on my way to MBL.

Goal 5 = I wore my hair out today and I will wear it out the rest of the week.

Make and maintain full waist length (need about 2 inches in the longest areas and 6 in the shortest) and finally be able to do a blowout and flat-iron on my own hair. Its a tad embarrassing how backwards I am when it comes to self-styling but I never learned growing up and my hands are so clumsy...

I successfully finger detangled last wash day and I barely had any breakage or shedding. I'm super happy about that. My next little project will be a diy satin bonnet for me and my daughter. I'll go pick up some fabric and elastic this week.

I am still doing really well with how I'm handling my hair.

GOALS 3 & 4 = I am retaining length and have reached BSL.

GOAL 5 = It has finally happened! I found a style that I really like and I have been wearing my hair out all month. I am in a protective style wig challenge, but I love my hair and it is going to be really hard for me to return to my wigs next month.

GOAL 6 = I am continuing to reduce my stash and my product junkie cravings are gone.
