November 2016: Hits & Misses

Continued Hit:
MHC Type 4

On the fence:
Soultanicals Mango Dip Detangling Slip. I'm still sketchy and trying to see what this aloe does. Oyin was kind to me but that doesn't mean i trust easily. It has a faint Mango smell, Creamy texture and goes on well. Does provide a good amount of slip for detangling, but I don't detangle unless under running water. It did allow me to easily get through my hair and if I had any remaining tangles, it did help greatly. My hair feels soft.

Hit and Miss:
Conditioner cleanse with DevaCurl NoPoo Decadence and V.05 Shea Cashmere. Hit because it was exactly what I needed after the flaxseed dried out my hair a bit. Miss because my scalp hates me so i will not be using Netwurks this week. For this reason, ST MDDS will stay on the fence.

@AgeinATL, Komaza's protein is bae. It's my staple.

Continued Hits:

Laila Ali Soft Bonnet Dryer: convenient and the low heat setting offers just enough heat to dry up excess water without zapping moisture from my hair.
Shower DCing: I miss deep conditioning but time is limited these days. Thankfully, shower detangling has been working well.
SLAP: I love hiding my hair when I can and the SLAP is my new go to when I'm not at work and have to leave the house.

New Hits:

QB line:
my mini twist feel great with layering on BRBC, AOHC and A to Z butter
Carol's Daughter Marguerite: I was impressed how soft and hydrated my hair felt.

It was YOU! I was trying to think of what other LP head spoke highly of it and now I remember that it was you! Thanks for posting your review. I will never be without this stuff!

@AgeinATL, I used it about once a month when relaxed and every two weeks when transitioning. As a natural, I don't require protein nearly as much and haven't quite figured out what the right interval is.
This. I haven't quite figured it out either, but I am thinking maybe every 8 weeks?

Likewise. I'm still getting the hang of some things but I'm sticking with 4 weeks for now. I'm actually at 4 weeks and and doing henna. I think for me, as long as my hair is stretched, 6 weeks is optimal at the moment. I was sticking with 4 weeks as that's what I did relaxed, but my hair gets too hard for too long. I'm going to play with it and start stretching.

OH wow. My hairdresser friend hipped me to this about a year ago, but I never tried it. She said the line is really good, and works on most of her natural clients. Not the relaxer. Lol, but the other stuff. You got this on the ground?

@JerriBlank I was just telling Divachyk about it. My daughter is natural and swims 4 days out of the week and I used it on her. The clarifying didn't dry her hair out like some of the other ones did to get the chlorine out and easy to comb. Yes I got it on the ground. I'm in Houston and a beauty supply store has the entire line of Essations products. I spent maybe a total of $100 and that will easily last us the year.

divachyk How did your hair do while she was using it? I washed and deep conditioned this weekend, and it feels like I just got a relaxer. I think I may use this brand for a while and it isn't overly expensive either.

@shiney_sapphire, I experienced dry, itchy, flaky scalp with Naked by Essations by had never dealt with that before. Therefore, I believe that relaxer system caused the problem because once I stopped using that relaxer, my dry scalp resolved.

@shiney_sapphire Which beauty supply did you find the Essations line?

Thanks,
Nina

Biggest hits of life:

CRN Almond Jai. Oyin Hair Dew.

I'm in exam period and I haven't been able to take care of my hair at all like I usually do. I washed it 3-4 weeks ago (I forget), threw in about 20 twists and have been wearing struggle-looking buns since then. I spritzed daily with water+avg and put on Oyin Hair Dew maybe once ever week and a half.

Today I was studying and absentmindedly grabbed my hair and it felt like locs. I freaked out and spritzed it with water and started taking down twists. My hair was so soft and moisturised. There were like two small tangles in my entire head. I just took down the twists one at a time, spritzed some more water, and rubbed oyin hair dew all over.

I honestly think my hair would be out to pasture if it wasn't for twisting with CRN to start with and oyin hair dew being an mvp.
