-Anything Shea Moisture
-Anything Carols daughter
-Any oil: olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, Moroccan oil
-Cantu products
-Shea butter ?

This is a list that I received from one of my good friends who cannot figure what to use on her natural hair.

She has a short afro, with beautiful, dense, 3c hair and she asked me to style it for her wedding. She wants to braid or twist her hair, but it's so parched that the styles just don't look right.

Her symptoms include scalp itchiness, blisters that spread down to her face and neck unless she washes off whatever she put in her hair. She also has RA if that info would help.

The only thing I can think of that fits almost all of the criteria is Karens Body Beautiful luscious locks hair mask. The only thing it has that she doesn't want is jojoba oil which is the third ingredient. It also doesn't have any fragrance oils or anything like that in it.

It's a great product but on the expensive side at $25 for 8 oz.

Would she be able to have something custom made? Would she be able to try the organic, possibly non-gmo, versions of the things she may be allergic to?

What does she use currently on her hair, face, and body? What is she not allergic to?
I had to ask her and she says she uses an organic face bar made with charcoal to wash her face, Neutrogena sun screen & shea butter on her body.
I'm not sure what to recommend for her hair at this point.

That's a good question. She's willing to try anything so I'll suggest that.

It doesn't seem to have anything she would react to! Thank you!

sapote, abysssian, burti, perilla, camellia, andiroba, baobob, or babassau oils
cucupua, morwah, or murumuru butters

Shampoo and conditioners are a huge issue because surfactants and emulsifiers are usually coconut and/or palm oil based. I have no idea what to suggest for those. Coconut allergies are becoming more common these days.

I just did a goggle search of coconut or shea butter free products:

4ab, lopo, fine, low-med density
Bentonite or rhassoul clay, or African black soap to cleanse.

Aloe Vera or flaxseed gel to style

Still thinking about moisturizers. That's tough.

Curls milkshake is mild, but it has jojoba oil. I think that is the only problematic ingredient based on the list.

Is she sure she is allergic to every oil? It's hard to avoid oil because it is the popular sealant. Jojoba is supposed to be the closest thing to scalp sebum.
