Time To Stock Up. Wetline Has Changed Their Formula

I have to agree with @PJaye, with the new formula I needed to use more to get my hair to lay down with the initial application. I couldn't do touch ups with just water. After day three my hair would look ashy and feel dry. But I just rub a light layer of oil over my hair once a day and it is fine. My hair wasn't completely dried out and my edges remained in tact. I have one tub left of the old formula. I will try to look for it at my local grocery store and Target. The Walmart near me have the new formula.... I am going to go back to IC Fantasia color treated gel. It worked great for me as well.

Update: The reformulated version is definitely not the same.

Ya know how the old Wetline laid things down and they stayed there until a person decided to move them? Yeah, this stuff doesn't do that. Not at all. Ya know how an individual could refresh and reactivate the old version with a mist of water, a brush and a scarf without reapplying? Mm hmm, the new one doesn't do that either. Ya know how the old one had unbelievable shine and enduring hold? Yep, you guessed it; the new one's shine and hold doesn't last for more than a day. The only thing the new version has is less crunch or stiffness. But, who cares about that when the performance sucks!

:lachen:

How many weeks post? The last time you relaxed was about 3 Centenarian Life Times ago! I hope the new formula holds down your new growth, too!

I hope so as well. This is for real my last attempt at this sans relaxer life before I just commit to relaxing forever :look: and I recently commented that Wetline would be vital this go round and likely make it easier. *sigh*

Ordered 3 tubs of the old version off Amazon...currently they have the new version in the tube but didn't see a label change on the big tub. Prayerfully I receive the old formulation, if not it's going back with the quickness! I still have my first tub and with 3 more hopefully that will last at 4 or 5 years and I pray by then they will have reformulated back to the old version.

I did not have a great wash day last week. After applying the gel (a new tub of Wetline), my hair lacked the slip it usually did which made styling difficult. I thought it was a fluke, so I didn't dwell on it. My hair held up well enough over the week, but it felt drier than usual. Well, after reading this thread I checked the label on my new tub and sure enough, its the reformulated version. Big Sigh.

Today's wash I used my holy grail leave in, the new Wetline gel, and followed up with pomade on top. My hair feels much better than it did last week. I can work around the formula change for now, but I'll definitely be testing out new gels.

I ordered from pharmapacks and just received it. The second ingredient is carbomer (which is what we want, right?). I bought the blue one, no real reason. I think the only difference is uv protection.

So now I have enough to tide me over until somebody comes up with something better. Whew! I might also have some coming from jet, will update when I know which one I ended up getting.

Reading this thread gave me Shea Moisture Purification Masque flashbacks.:cry3::censored::darkcloud: I dont try a lot of products and out of the ones I have tried I only have a few that are tried, trusted and true with every use. So that being said..... Wetline you need to know that I will NOT let you compromise the Greatness of my buns. I have been to 2 Walmart's and a BSS an hour away to build me a stash....it's that serious for me!

I tried to insert a pic of my stash but I keep getting the error message.

I am currently the owner of:
2-77.60 oz. tubs
4-35.26 oz. jars

And if I see more, I am buying more:grin: (I have a lot of hair and use a lot of gel)

Ok so the blue version is the old version basically? If so I'm ordering asap! Are you able to compare its performance to the old stuff? Thanks for sharing!
Does the blue version have protein in it?
What is the real difference with the Blue version cause I found plenty of it at my local grocery store with carbomer as the second ingredient:look::look:...

Ok, so, I always used the blue and clear interchangeably. I noticed no difference. I just compared the new blue ones to the old clear one I had and the ingredients are the same, in the same order.

I have not yet been able to compare 'newly-purchased blue' to 'been-had blue'. I probably won't get to my hair for a few days.

According to the packaging, the difference between clear and blue is that clear has UV protection while blue does not. That's important if you have color and I don't.

So I just saw this at my local Dollar Tree. Top three ingredients are the same, and it has mostly the same ingredients as the original wet line gel except for a few.

Tried to upload photos, but got the error.

Here it is : https://www.ebay.com/p/2-Super-LOOK-Extreme-Hold-Styling-GEL-by-Wet-Line-15-87-Oz-Each/1592671918

How is it working for you? Talk about copying. Folks have no shame! They bit the color of the cap, the name of the product and have the nerve to separate Wet and Line. But hey, if it works!!
Can you look on the back for us and see if it was made in Mexico?

I literally just saw it at the store, haven't used it. It does say it was made in Mexico.

ETA when I googled, I saw that there were YouTube reviews by some naturals, and some type 4 naturals were saying good things about it on Amazon.

@Chicoro so I looked again - the original Wet Line is spelled as 2 separate words. I guess this is another version of their gels? It appears to be a regular product sold by the Dollar Tree. I watched a few more videos on Youtube, and they have all been good reviews so far.

I was wondering why my bun wasn't laying down amazingly as usual. Now I realize it was a formula change.

The same with the Shea Moisture purifying mask. I stocked up on those and they are still sitting because they just don't work the same. Then I come here and learn that they've changed that formula too!!! My WORD!!!
