LADIES, this hair journey can be tough!

But I believe I have found a phenomenal hair salon. Thank you @YvetteWithJoy for putting Her Growing Hands Salon on my radar screen. The owner (Whitney) did my hair. LCHF, I admit, I was incredibly nervous; however, when she began to detangle my hair strand by strand, I knew I was in good hands. And when one of her team members was detangling me a bit too quickly for her tastes, Whitney told her to "slow down!"

And ladies, I am now officially 3 1/2--almost 4 years--natural. My goal is to master Wash and Go's; however, I am not sure if that is a reality for my hair type---open to any advice that this board may have on that possibility.

Happy Hair Growing!

Yes, please tell us. I’m in San Fernando Valley California and would love to find a good salon.

Super gorgeous hair!
@ColibriNoir , thank you! Her Growing Hands has two other stylists, so a number of people have begun flying in (Frisco, Texas). I am trying my best not to sound like an advertisement here! I was just so shocked that a salon actually did not mind taking time to detangle my tresses. I kept thinking, "What if this was the norm....????"

What is your normal hair routine?

That is my question. What is your hair routine and trimming schedule ? Do you have a process you do for your ends?

Your hair is so beautiful and perfect that it looks like someone is preparing a weave for a magazine photo shoot. That is just how perfect and healthy your natural hair is. The health, shine, length and root to ends thickness of that hair is just jaw dropping.

That's some super beautiful hair you have.

@Chicoro , thank you:love:! You are absolutely one of my favorite posters on this board, you have taught me so much over the years--thank you for your kind words.:urock:

My routine is simple, every four weeks, wash, detangle, hair in cornrows, underneath a wig. In that photo, my ends were freshly trimmed. As of late, my ends are trimmed about 3 times, a year. At the Salon, they only trim on freshly silked hair, which will equate to 3-4 times for most clients. What was disappointing but good to see--was how early in my transition to natural, I protective styled with weaves--you could clearly see the difference in this hair versus the hair protective styled with wigs. Although, I adore a beautiful weave, I am now convinced wigs are the way to continue forward on my journey.

@sgold04 , yes, strand by strand!!! Firstly, they washed me loose, and I almost had a panic attack at the bowl because I have never been washed loose at a salon without receiving some sort of repercussion (read: setback) from this type of wash, once in the chair for the detangling stage.

After the wash, they slathered conditioner on my tresses and got to work. Whitney, took about an hour and a half to personally detangle my strands. And she was just so cool and unbothered about this--her energy was--you have a lot of hair, this is necessary and this is how long it takes. I believe her method is akin to our harp method. After I was detangled and hair placed in twists, I was placed underneath the steamer for about 35-40 minutes. After the steamer, twists were undone, hair washed, and then it was time for the blow dry (with a comb attachment).

That ig is beautiful. Pretty heads of hair everywhere. And @miss_a I see you serving face. Texas is more than a hike for me so I’ll iust live through this gorgeous ig account instead. Thanks for sharing!

@kupenda, that IG is what pushed me over the edge! So many heads of pretty hair just coming in and out of the salon like nobody's business!

And yes, I had to serve on 'em---just a little bit :kiss3:!
