What are your regimens for the Fall ladies???

Will you use different products as well?

For the fall/winter I’m going to pre-poo* with my oils, wash, deep condition**, detangle, moisturize, air dry, and then maxiglide w/ a serum once a week.

*Pre-poo – on dry hair, I saturate w/ oils and wrap w/ saran wrap, cover w/ a plastic bag then a bonnet. Heat it for only like 5-10 mins and leave it on overnight.

**deep condition - will be after I shampoo and towel dry, saturate w/ conditioner, comb thru, cover and then go under the dryer for 15 mins, uncover, add more condish and some oils, recover and go back under the dryer for 20 more mins.

YOUR TURN!!!

I'll do the same thing all year. I didn't get a growth spurt this summer so I'm hoping this fall/winter I will get one.

I wash twice weekly

- prepoo with Amla Oil for by 1/2 hour by apply the oil onto dry hair, covering hair with plastic cap and covering cap with hot towel

- wash with VO5 Extra Body

- Use Amla Oil Lite for about 15 mins by apply oil onto wet hair, covering hair with plastic cap and covering cap with hot towel

- Condition with VO5 Extra Body conditioner

- Once rollerset I apply oil to the end of hair everyday

- Deep condition once monthy with Amla Oil by
Apply Amla Oil to clean hair, cover with cap and sit under dryer for 30 mins.

OR

- CW daily and

- wash weekly

- DC once a month or so.

I seem to do the same thing all year too. Wash twice weekly and DC after every wash, rollerset and moisturize.

I wanted to do co-washes all summer and rock wash n go, but I haven't picked that up yet :perplexed

I live in Boston, so I have to change things up a bit to combat the cold outside, the dry heat inside, and the wind that blows things everywhere:

Cleaning & Conditioning:
  • Wash hair just once a week rotating a conditioning shampoo (CON green) with a clarifying shampoo (Suave or ORS)
  • Deep condition for a good hour every time I wash
  • Apply leave-ins galore (I'm talking a cream leave-in like Salerm 21, split end sealer to prevent splits like Ego Boost, and oils to seal it all in--either coconut or jojoba)
  • I usually let my hair air dry overnight covered in a satin cap
  • When my hair is dry (or mostly so), I slather on the S-Curl or other liquid-y moisturizer every day, usually twice a day. The weather here can sap every drop of moisture out of my hair if I'm are not careful.
  • I avoid adding chemicals to my hair this time of year to prevent excessive dryness. I usually don't get a touch-up between November and March.
Styling:
  • I avoid styling my hair at all to decrease manipulation and save time. I wear phony ponies or quick weaves with the baggy method.
Putting my hair to bed:

I re-moisturize my hair at night, sealing it in with a little oil. Because there is a lot of stress on my hair line from wearing knitted hats, I apply a heavier moisturizer to my hairline before tying it up for the evening.

Special treatments:
  • I keep up with my heavy protein treatments
  • If my hair is shedding, then I will use a product like Alter Ego Cren to assist
  • Ego Boost remains a staple to keep my ends strong and happy

OT - I may be moving to your area next year. My company has asked me to relocate. I was thinking of renting my house out and trying out MA for a couple of years.

By the way, this year I am going to try to do the Crown and Glory thing. I tried it last year and got sick of the braids. But I think I can do it this time. I was trying too hard with different kinds of hair and such. I think I will like it better if I just keep it simple.

Besides Legend, does anyone else use heavier conditioner or more deep conditioning in the fall/winter? Is hair like skin?

Yeah!!! :D

It's a great area to live in. I work in Downtown Boston, and you can't beat the atmosphere. One HUGE drawback is the cost of housing here, expecially in the city. So, renting yoru house out during your time here is a very good plan.

If you want more information on about how much it would cost to live in any town in Massachusetts (according to your family size), check out this web tool called the "Self-Sufficiency Calculator": http://www.liveworkthrive.org/calculator.php

Good luck!!! :)

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I will probably get more consistent with my oil pre poos for the winter. Otherwise, I will wash and deep condition twice a week like I normally do. I will however do more protein treatments.

Last year Winter never came to Florida, so unless its different this year, I won't change my regimen.

My regimen will remain the same, but I plan to keep my hair up at all times. Last winter I had some breakage because of my hair rubbing on my coat...can't have that again! :nono:

I hope to leave my regimen pretty much the same. The only difference is instead of washing my hair every 3 days I will wash every 5.

I will be doing the Crown and Glory method with kinky twists IF I can learn how to do Kinky twists on my own. I don't want to have to pay someone else to do them, b/c I will be wearing them the whole fall and winter and possibly spring, and that means getting them done several times.

Con will be my shampoo while i have kinky twists in. I don't know how I'll manage conditioning or deep conditioning with twists in, so I haven't figured that part out yet. I'll be using Infusium 23 and some braid spray concoction as my leave in.

Twisted for 2 months at a time, Hair out for 1-2 weeks at a time. While my hair is out, I'll be using CON, Cholesterol, CON Moist, and a leave in and rollersetting (maybe)
