Hit:
Treluxe hair gel. Has great slip. Best hair gel I've ever used. It works best over SheaMoisture extra moisture leave in.

Miss:
Treluxe leave-in. Not moisturizing enough for my hair. Doesn't detangle my hair. Very little slip.

Major miss:
JLexillc Bamboo DE conditioner. See my review under vendors.

Kitchen Mixtress
Big hit: Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic

I can honestly say wow. My first try of it was smoothing through big chunks (just 4 sections) cause I was in a hurry. I was SHOCKED by how much definition I got for 2-3 minutes of product application. Will be trialing with less lazy techniques. I’m hype for possible results!:D

Major hit:
Shampooing with a sulfate shampoo non-diluted, specifically Creme of Nature Mango and Shea Butter shampoo.
My hair is more moisturized for longer and my twistouts are more defined. And my hair is not stripped at all, just super clean. I even lathered TWICE and I could even very lightly finger detangle with the lather. This shampoo is a definite repurchase!

Other hits:
Doing the LOC method like MissMusic (A Love 4 Me on YouTube) with water as the liquid, one of my random oil mixes as the oil, and my leave in as the cream. My hair dried faster but had a nice sheen and held moisture for longer. Kind of like an oil rinse with no "rinse".

Just for Me's Natural Hair Nutrition Nourishing Leave-in and Mosture-Rich Styling Smoothie as a duo. My twist out was soft, shiny, defined and held moisture for days. I didn't need to moisturize or retwist for 4-ish days. These $5 products are great. I want to try each by themselves to see if it was the combo that gave me results or if it was one of the products carrying the other.

Miss:
Always being too lazy to do my hair at the one week mark, so waiting for two weeks. I might as well rearrange my hair routine to biweekly.

:up:HIT: the Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam: I can’t remember who it was, but someone on YouTube recommended this. I washed and blow dried my hair then used this mousse on my first flexirod set since I’ve been natural. It came out SO WELL and is lasting so nicely. I’m really happy with this. Oh! And it’s a Black owned mother-son company too!

ETA: AND I got it OTG at Target!

So, how do you use it for washngos? Under gel? Over leave-in? I want to start doing washngos, probably in the spring. I waited too late and it’s cold here now. But I did buy some gel a while ago thinking I was going to start.

I used it by itself. I watched her tutorial she has on YT. It foams so I kept reusing it and sliding it down the strands.

  • Wash day. My product line up was spot on
  • Curl Origin Maracuja Deep Recovery conditioner, It was thick and creamy going on. Left it on an hour with a plastic bag on top. After I rinsed out , I went straight to my leave in conditioner and oil
Miss

Trying the loc method right after washing. My hair needs to be dry or slightly damp. On wet hair, the next day my hair was too oily. Soft, but more oily than usual. Made for a nice blow out though.

Professional Napper
Initial hit: My new wig. It's extremely soft, lots of parting space, preplucked hairline. I ran my fingers through it several times (about 50 :look: cuz it's so soft), no shedding. The density is just right. I plan on bleaching my knots sometime this week and setting on flexi rods. I need to make a trip to the bss asap.

Hit: My new scalp oil mix.

It’s a combo of castor and safflower (high linoleic acid) oil with an essential oil blend of rosemary, thyme, lavender, and cedarwood. I copied the eo ratios from an article on hair oil for combating alopecia areata. The article has been posted on LHCF a few times over the years. I created it to use as a scalp conditioning oil that promotes decreased scalp inflammation and general calming of my mood. Deep breathing exercises following applying the oil are definitely more effective.

This oil has worked triple duty as a cleansing oil for my face. It is my first successful ocm mix after trying on and off over 3 years.

Its success with oil cleansing has inspired me to try an oil cleansing method for precleansing my scalp before washing.
