2019 Vitamin Challenge

Soaring Eagle

Singin’ the praises of the baggy method
If you are currently taking vitamins or have been thinking about it, join this challenge as we attempt to reach our goals of longer, thinker, stronger, and healthier hair. This challenge is for those who would like to be consistent with their vitamin regimen, in order to see growth, thickness or simply general improvement in their hair and/or body.

This challenge is quite simple: take the recommended dose of your chosen vitamin on a daily basis. It can be a regular multi-vitamin, a multi-vitamin targeted for hair growth, or an individual supplement (collagen, fish oil, msm, etc). that you hope will benefit your hair/health This challenge is all about being consistent with whatever vitamin/supplement you choose to take to help you reach your goals.

To join, please state:

1.) Your current length and the length you hope the vitamins will help you achieve (or other goal that you wish to achieve)
2.) Any of the vitamins or supplements you're using for the health of your hair (or body in general)
3.) How long you intend to take the vitamins for

This challenge officially begins on 1 January 2019.

This post will be updated with a list of vitamins everyone is taking.

There is no pressure to post before, during and/or after pics, but they are encouraged.

We can also use this thread to talk about new vitamins on the market, as well as any good or bad experiences anyone has had with a particular vitamin.

Please come back to this thread each time you finish a bottle of your vitamin, or decide to switch to a new vitamin. Please also feel free to come back in-between and let us know how things are going.

Lastly, remember that length does not only come from growing hair, but also from retaining the hair that you are growing. With that being said, may we grow as many inches as possible, AND retain every inch in 2019!

1. Your current length and the length you hope the vitamins will help you achieve (or other goal that you wish to achieve)

I hope to be APL in the front. At the moment I'm probably chin length there and an inch away from APL in the back. My hair grows in a mullet and looking at pics of me back in the day the front sides have always struggled to play catch up.
2. Any of the vitamins or supplements you're using for the health of your hair (or body in general)

General

Optiwoman multi-vitamin
Herb Pharm - Rapid Immune boost ( to take me through winter)
NAC (for biofilm and persistent UTIs)
D- Mannose (for persistent UTIs)
Nattokinease - (for another month or so - for biofilm and persistent UTIs)
Zinc
PB8 Probiotic

Hair
Flaxseed oil
Alive - Biotin + Collagen gummies

Will likely add msm at some point and silica if I can't get a hold of my bamboo tea.

3.) How long you intend to take the vitamins for

Till the end of the yearrrr

I have no doubt in my mind that you will make it to APL in 2019. Please keep us informed about how the liquid biotin is working for you. I am quite interested. May I ask what brand in particular you are taking (or intend on taking)?

Just wow at the hair in your avatar.

What was/is your regimen. If you could refer us to one your older posts that would be great. I hope to one day have hair so long. If you got there before, you can definitely get there again. I can't wait to see where your hair will be in 2019.

I use this one:
It makes my nails grow like weeds. They still do break, unfortunately, but they grow very long before they do and they're far less prone to breaking than without taking biotin. I only started up consistently over perhaps a month so far, so I haven't noticed anything for my hair, but we'll see.

1.) Your current length and the length you hope the vitamins will help you achieve (or other goal that you wish to achieve)

Not sure of my current length as I’m 12 months post relaxer but probably mid neck length after I trim a few stringy inches off. I hope to be SL in back and nape/edges 3 inches.

2.) Any of the vitamins or supplements you're using for the health of your hair (or body in general)

I think I am going to take a HSN vitamin, iron (I’m anemic) and MSM for 6 months, then after length check end of June I’ll either continue if results are normal or good or switch to Biosil, iron and MSM. I’m still deciding on combo.

3.) How long you intend to take the vitamins for
1 year total and each combo for at least six months with length check pictures to evaluate.

I don’t have a starting picture but may add one after my next relaxer and trim at end of month.

PS May 2017-???
In like Flynn :drunk: it will be nice to be part of a group.

I will spend the next week or so researching which vitamins will best aid with my hair which has been thinning last couple of years due to anaemia, major operation etc etc, and get them ordered. Will be back before the challenge starts with a proper intro.

Hopefully I remember I'm joining...ladies please don't be shy if I haven't come back mid-December or so to remind me lol.

I think I’m gonna have to change my vitamins. My son keeps eating them up since he’s figured out how to open them. After I’ve STRESSED the fact that they’re not candy. Geez.

They must be delicious if your son keeps eating them.

I have been wanting to try some delicious vitamins like Sugar Bear hair or the Mielle Gummy Vitamins, but can never get myself to click the order button. . Assuming that the vitamins you have are also gummy vitamins, do you find that they are as effective as pills ?

Hmm, good question. I haven’t been taking them long enough to notice a difference. It think the pills are more effective because it’s less sugar, but the gummies just taste better lol.
