My crochet is installed. Im not liking my knots so it looks weird when I pull it up.

I'll let it settle in and loosen up some. Might look better over time. I'm thinking I'll be in this for 6 weeks.

My birthday is next month so I'd like to not worry about my hair on vacation.

My regimen this week:

-Prepoo - Curl Origin Overnight Hair Mask
-Shampoo - Follicle Care Bambu Shampoo
-Deep Condition - with a combination of Follicle Care Nectar Repair, Olaplex #3, and Follicle Care Bambu Repair and Moisturizing Treatment

-Leave-in - SSI Green Tea Coconut Hair Milk
-M/S - Lustrasilk Curl Max Moisturizer and Shea Butter
-Style - Braided hair under wig as my protective style for the week.

I need another trim soon and will work on making an appointment with my stylist for maybe next week.

So, I got my hair straightened and the ends clipped Sunday morning. Its kind of poofy already which is good. Straight is not my natural texture. I'm about 2 inches from apl. I'm kind of scared because I'm still in the stage where I end up getting a setback.
Previous setback reasons...
1. Coloring - That's what weave is for
2. Ignoring under wigs - braid instead
3. Cutting too much - keep 2x a year schedule

So my hair routine has changed. I may have accidentally heat damaged/trained my hair :look: . But that's okay. I was on the fence about being a straight haired natural anyway. . .at least for a little while :drunk: . This month I straightened my hair twice with a two week break in between.

Hair routine starting in June (after I've worn my hair for 2 weeks):
  • Straighten 1x a month- shampoo with ORS, DC with protein (EBW Split End mask), spray with ORS heat spray. Blowdry and flatiron (2 passes). Wear hair down, in ponytail or bun.
  • Twist n'curl/Braid n'curl 2x a month- shampoo with ORS or CD Green therapy shampoo, DC with moisturizing packs. Apply leave-in and set with LottaBody foam wrap. Wear hair down, in protective style or bun
I'm curious to see if this hampers my progress at all. It may help honestly because I won't be cutting my hair do to ssks.

DH and I went on a little weekend trip and I forgot to pack hair products. We went swimming and the hotel shampoo and conditioner were okay but today my hair is so dry. But there is no definition on the ends. I let my hair dry hanging down and the ends look like they were pulled to the max. I am someone who definitely needs moisturizer every time my hair gets wet.

I normally would shampoo and DC today but I'm going to do a protein based DC and then LOC.

Girl @shawnyblazes,

That color is hot and your hair looks so shiny and healthy too. I gatta say because I'm getting into color now, I might have to get color tips from you. Seriously, it is really pretty. Not too much and not too little, just perfect .

Thank, Aggie, I was soooooo nervous. This is the first time I let anyone color my hair. I thought it was too light at first but then she rinsed it out and I was like oooo.

She really scrubbed my scalp clean and wanted to style it but I say no thanks. She wanted to trim my ends and I was like nope. I would go back to her in the future but I like henna @Aggie

I'm glad you like it too and make sure to get it treated the right way for colored hair and you'll be just fine @shawnyblazes .

Congrats on almost reaching it in at half the year. You will certainly make it if you stick with the routine that got you this far. You can do it @Meritamen!
Thanks @Aggie. I still surprised that my hair is almost there because I have battling with excessive shedding. Last time I made it to APL it took forever and a day to get there so I'm happy I didn't even notice this time around. It has been so motivating because I was this close to throwing in the towel and getting a relaxer.

I just detangled my hair after being in twists for two weeks. Still seeing a lot of shedding. :( I have decided it is time to get some blood work done so I will be making an appointment to see what I am deficient in and hopefully find a specialist to see what I maybe allergic/sensitive too in order to tailor my diet and vitamins to that.

@Meritamen
Remember that we shed hairs naturally everyday - from about 50-100 hair a day usually after they've hit their max growth length. This is normal.

So if your hair has been braided up for 2 weeks, just measure the shed hair based on the normal daily shedding and if that is all you see, then you're fine. Don't panic hon.

Still get your blood tested to rule anything in your health that could be affecting your hair though just to stay on the safe side hon.

Thank you for the comment. I wish this were the case but illness and stress has done a number on my hair. It almost seems like my hair isn't attached to my head. It doesn't seem to matter when I comb my hair (after 2 days, a week, two weeks) I would lose the same big ol' clump of hair. Thankfully I don't have any bald patches but the density of my hair has gone done and my hairline looks sparse. I have a lot of little hairs coming in right now that give my hair an annoying halo whenever I pull my hair back in a ponytail. :( It's been a struggle.

I did a light trim on my hair while in twists to get rid of the SSKs. My hair feels so much better. I pulled a section in the back and the length doesn't look that different.

I started dermarolling/microneedling this past week. I went a little overboard because I didn't see it getting pink the first time. it scabbed over though, so maybe I just didn't see it. i ended up doing it three times, which was a bit much. i will do it again Friday and the subsequent two fridays. then, every other Friday (fortnightly) for the rest of the year.

I have le'marie something something spray that has 1% minoxidil in it with some other things. i think this will work fine. i don't know how often i should use it. i spray it every day pretty much since it has such a low percentage of minoxidil. i also have 5% minoxidil foam, but i am afraid of using it. i may use it once a month. i just have my little temple areas to put it on. Hopefully that makes it okay

My hair is 3 weeks old and still straight. This is the longest I've gone without washing my hair since being natural. I actually realized that I could moisturize my hair without it poofing up on me. That's why I've stretched this wash out so long. That and being tired  . My hair has been so low maintenance that it's crazy!!

I'm changing up my routine a bit because I've never passed this length. I have split ends and single strand knots. Also, dryness and sparse edges.

Adding DC and strengthening to week. I hope to successfully incorporate henna.

No wigs for me or halo twists.

@Meritamen I understand. It looks great

As for me, my regimen has been resurrected. I put it on my Google Calendar. I'm SO EXCITED!!

I've added in a weekly henna gloss and midweek shikakai mudwash. I'm needing strengthening. Cholesterol works very well, but I want to try something a bit different. If I cannot get the henna to work well with my hair, I'll bring back cholesterol for my weekly strengthening DC.
