Thanks for the info! Picked up some at Family Dollar yestersay. I washed my hair tonight and used it as my moisturizer, I sealed with oil though then plaited it in one and it will be in a bun like that all week until wash day again. Guess, Ill see how well it works!

I had to find this thread and update. Since the day I opened this thread to now, SCURL is now one of my must haves! Thank youuuuuu for putting me on to this stuff! I don't go a wash day without it!!! It has really helped me retain sooo much length. For the longest while I was stuck at WL/Whip-Length. I'd trim and get back to Whip Length and just stay there. Then this post came about June 2018 and same day I bought a bottle, then BAM October 2018 I was sitting at Hip Length! Scurl took me straight to booty length hair. The entire year of 2019 that was literally my regimen, nothing else. Scurl, Doogrow oil, Bun.
Again
THANK YALL!!!

Lustrasilks curl max moisturizer is my go to jheri juice. I later it under my gel for my wash n goes and use it to revive dry curls around day 3 or 4.
This is my go to Jherri juice as well. But I also use CFCG and S-Curl and they all leave my hair super moist. I REALLY like the Lustrasilk's Curl Max Moisturizer a lot, perhaps more than the others. I can't find it on the ground, sadly .

I think I saw some at the beauty supply store around the corner from my house. It comes in a big tall brown bottle right?

Used CAG under my RW Leave in last night and braided my hair up. Took it out earlier at work and baby, you couldnt tell me anything.

I sealed it in with an oil. My hair was firm in the colder weather but nothing alarming. In the house it’s plush and expanded.
Tomorrow is washday so I’ll be washing.

I need to get back on activator. I used to LOVE S-curl from back in the day when everyone was on Sera's regimen. Then they changed the formula and I just didn't like the argan oil, paraben free version....AT ALL it always made my hair feel like moisture was sitting on top of my hair not penetrating it. I found the original formula on luster's website and its still listed on there as if it's still for sale but lately it has been out of stock and I used up my reserves. When I had my last setback I couldn't find what I wanted so I just used other moisturizers and didn't worry about activator during my last setback recovery. I am going to try a few of the activators mentioned in this thread when I go back to natural styles. I remember world of curls was good on my hair when I tried it in the past and I have been wanting to try Hawaiian silky and some of the others mentioned. I will even give the updated s-curl formula another shot. I used to love my results with the original formula. Maybe I need to try after a good clarifying.

Is curl activator in gel form any good? I have to shamefully admit that I bought a a jar of World of Curls gel & wasn’t sure if it would be just as good as the liquids, since theres mostly talk about them. I’ve used it under Wetline for wng but it was a while ago and don’t recall if it was a hit or miss.

I do not use it to detangle my hair - just to moisturize with. I only use Chicoro's prepoo and/or a slippy conditioner in the shower to detangle with.
@Aggie
I was wondering if it detangles as well as S-Curl? As far as removing tangles and knots? I feel S-Curl works great for this.

So, it probably works the same way. *shrug*

I do know my hair is super soft when I use the Curl Max so it probably is very good for detangling. I have never used it for that purpose. I simply apply it to my hair, seal with either grease or SB, plait up in big braids for my wigs.

I'm so glad that this thread was bumped. Last winter at this time, I made a spray of glycerin and water and for whatever reason I stopped using it. I made some again last week and my hair has been feeling awesome ever since!

Used some CFC Curl Activator on my hair tonight. I can't wait to use these up because they are not as moisturizing as my Curl Max. It's just okay (meh) on my hair.

I bought 5 activators to try:
  • S-Curl Gel
  • KeraCare Activator
  • Proclaim activator(its on clearance for under 2 bucks at Sallys right now)
  • Hawaiian Silky Gel Activator(the pink one)
  • Hawaiian silky 14-n 1(one of the properties says activator)
I have been waiting to try Hawaiian Silky the longest so I tried that first(the gel specifically). First impression is I love it lol. It is not heavy. There is no noticeable residue. The hair soaks it up. A little goes a long way. It contains moisture that lasts for days. Of course I have to use it for a while longer to be able to tell if I love it as much as I think I do since this is the first few days but I am pretty sure that will be the outcome. It's not often that I love something on first try but when I do it usually becomes a staple. I been without ''"the juice" too long(since 2015 or 2016)

That Hawaiian silky pink activator gel is a winner. I tried it this weekend and my hair feels just as good as it used to when I used the original S curl formula. Thanks for this thread. I was wanting something to replace S-curl in my regimen but gave up for a while when sta soft fro and the new S-curl formula didn't meet my expectations. I am glad this works as good as the standard that the original s-curl set. I will still try the other ones I bought but I plan to sock up on the Hawaiian silky. I should have tried this years ago instead of waiting so long.
