Avlon Texture Release Review

I applied the Avlon Texture Release amino acid treatment to my hair 10 days ago. So far I’m really liking it.
The application was pretty easy. Two & a half weeks before the treatment I did a henna & indigo treatment. The night before the treatment I used Olaplex & Redken Extreme CAT Reconstructing Treatment & deep conditioned.

My hair was very shiny and felt like silk after flat ironing. I didn’t experience any breakage during application.

Last year in June I thought I was going to have to cut all my hair off due to breakage from a different keratin treatment I tried. I used Olaplex & other bond building treatments & the Redken Extreme line weekly for about 2 months and stopped the breakage. But my hair was much thinner and shorter than before the treatment. I didn’t use any heat for 11 months.

The instructions give you different options depending on how you want your final result. If you just want to loosen your hair a little bit, you stop after the blow dry. If you want to alternate between curly & straight, after blow drying flat iron at 350 with 3 passes. If you want maximum versatility, flat iron at 450 with 5-7 passes. I did two passes at 410. I believe I had so much damage from the treatment last year because of the high heat & number of passes even though I only used half the number of passes recommended.

When I rinsed the treatment out I could already tell it had loosened my hair. It took my like 5 minutes to detangle my hair before blow drying. I like that this comes with a heat protectant to use before blow drying & also again before flat ironing.

My hair stayed straight until I washed it today. When wet my hair initially was straight
just like having a relaxer. But then it became wavy with big curls, maybe like 3A texture. I’m naturally a 4A/4B/3C texture. I didn’t have any breakage today. I didn’t deep condition, just let the conditioner sit under a shower cap while I showered. After rinsing the conditioner my hair felt very very soft without any product in it. It was a breeze to detangle and apply my leave in products.

Next weekend I plan to try a roller set. I believe I can get my hair relaxer straight just using rollers. When I was texlaxed, I always did roller sets and just flat ironed the roots & it would look like I had a fresh relaxer.

I had planned to go back to texlaxing at the end of this year if this keratin treatment didn’t give me the results I wanted. I will continue to monitor my hair & watch for any breakage. I want to also try some twist outs, braid outs, & wash & gos with this treatment.

Where did you buy from @VinDieselsWifey ?

I emailed Avlon to see where I could purchase it from. My nearest authorized distributor is Paul’s Beauty Warehouse in Springfield, VA. I have my cosmetology license so I can shop there. I wanted to make sure I had an authentic product. I’ve seen it in the past on Amazon but I didn’t want to risk having a fake product. The keratin treatment I tried last year I bought from eBay & I’m wondering if I got a fake product or bad batch because of the horrible results I had with it.

WOW, your hair looks amazing

How long are the results supposed to last?

I did a rollerset on Sunday & my hair came out just like my texlaxed hair used to. It was straight but still had fullness to it. I would just need to flat iron the roots to get it sleeker.

I haven’t done a rollerset in probably about 5 years. I used to love doing them. This is the first time in years that I’m loving my hair again. My hair would tangle so bad in some areas that I just dreaded wash day. I mainly finger detangled because I felt I lost too much hair on wash day using wide tooth combs. I had been keeping my hair twisted or in box braids under wigs for years now.

Next wash I’m gonna try a wash & go.

So applying it I was confused on the dilator because it was a spray. I wasn’t sure i applied enough. Then when I applied the releasing lotion I went section my section.
Blow drying was easy. Flat ironing was easy. My hair was soft with the thermal protector.

Your hair came out nice.

I applied the spray until my hair was pretty saturated with it and the lotion I applied in small sections like a relaxer. Some parts of my hair in the middle didn’t come out as smooth as others so next time I will make sure I get my middle section good. I will run out of the spray before the lotion so I will have to repurchase it separately.

I also sat under the steamer with a shower cap on for the lotion part. Avlon said results would be better that way.

@VinDieselsWifey good morning!

What was the first thing you did after using the treatment? Moisture DC or Protein DC? .. or both?

Good afternoon. I did moisture. After about 2.5 weeks I did a light-medium protein treatment. I did a heavy protein after 4 weeks. I think protein might strip the treatment just a bit. I noticed my hair was curlier afterward. But I liked the way it looked.

I am anxiously waiting for Step 1 to come back in stock at SleekShop so that I can do this as well. I love my hair but I am absolutely tired of fighting humidity.

Does anybody know of anywhere else I might be able to find it in stock?

I actually bought a kit because there are 4 steps. The clarifying shampoo, hair dilator, releasing lotion, and heat protectant. It also comes with a curl cream. The website actionbeautysupply.com has the kit. They are affiliated with Paul's Beauty Warehouse where I bought the kit from. You have to search for "affirm" in the search bar and then it comes up. You don't need a license to shop there.

VinDieselsWifey, what type of moisturizing conditioner did you use and also the protein please?

My first wash I used Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner (old formula). The light-medium protein was Aquage SeaExtend Strengthening Conditioner. The heavy protein was Influance Proplex Reconstructor.

I believe protein strips this treatment. I can definitely tell it's wearing off. When wet it's still easy to detangle. But now my wash & go looks different once dry. It's getting curlier and more poofy. My first wash & go was more big ringlets.

Once this wears off completely I will probably do another one in December. And this time I will focus more on doing moisture to see if it lasts longer.
