1. Are you relaxed, texlaxed, natural, transitioning: Natural
2. Current Hair Length : EL (ear length)
3. Why are you joining this challenge? : To grow my hair out I need healthy ends. I need to stay on top of it.
4. What have you tried to improve your ends? : Previous years, it seems like everything. Last year I changed my shampoo regimen
5. What are you going to try to get those healthy ends?
Going to stick to at least weekly Cleanse, Condition, Style (CCS)
Will keep my ends trimmed every 3 to 4 months
Clip splits when I come across them

6. Any helpful tips you learned for your fellow challengers...
I learned that a multi-shampoo regimen could solve all of my hair dryness issues.
1. Shampoo twice.
2. Shampoo 1: clarifying, almost clarifying, all purpose, moisturizing
3. Shampoo 2: moisturizing

Will post a pic of my ends a little later.

I really need this challenge. I've been neglecting my ends and in the past, taking care of them helped me retain tremendous growth.

1. Are you relaxed, texlaxed, natural, transitioning, etc
Natura
2. Current Hair Length
Between APL and BSL. It looks BSL, but it's not full.
3. Why are you joining this challenge?
Due to previous hair color, I know my hair is growing at a decent rate, but I've been ignoring my ends and I know that taking care of them would give the kind of growth I've seen before.
4. What have you tried to improve your ends?
Lately, next to nothing. :look::confused:
5. What are you going to try to get those healthy ends?
What I did that worked in the past: moisturize and seal twice daily and henna kept my strands thick and breakage resistant. I also need to be more diligent about covering my hair when I go to bed.
6. Any helpful tips you learned for your fellow challengers...
Not now. Maybe if I have success I'll have more to share.

I’m here!
I was all set to do it at 2am and fell asleep!! I’ll do it now sunshine. I didn’t forget. As raggedy as my ends are. I’m headed to TJ Maxx at 9:15 to grab my shampoos. Was it your that suggested I grab some salon quality shampoo from there?

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Hey hey hey. I’m here and going to finish the assignment now!! each time I start, I get distracted or fall asleep!

1. Are you relaxed, texlaxed, natural, transitioning- I big chopped in May of 2018/I’m still natural!! I hated my hair until 2020. I though about going back to creamy crack every day. Lolol. It was bad yall.

2. Current Hair Length- I’m ear/cheek length maybe?? I’m not sure how long it is when straightened.

3. Why are you joining this challenge- To keep me motivated to stick to my weekly routine. To continue to learn how to care for and love my hair. It was rough the first 2 years. I was relaxed from the ages of 9-49 years. So I knew absolutely nothing about my God given hair.
This challenge will also help me to fix my pitiful ends. Or so I hope.

4. What have you tried to improve your ends- I was always cutting them. Cutting 2-4 inches every few weeks. I thought they were split. I didn’t realize that I needed to just give them extra care. It was suggested to me to try a salon quality shampoo. I’m headed TJ Maxx in a few to grab some Redken or Pureology. I also added an LCO routine just for my ends and it doesn’t seem to be helping. They dry out anyways. And become tangled on themselves. My hair is in twists. I may need to go back to plaits. My ends are very exposed now. But plaits made my scalp sore. Even though they were very loose

5. What are you going to try to get those healthy ends- I am hoping to learn here! One thing I will be doing is giving them extra attention. Im not too sure outside or trying the new shampoo.

6. Any helpful tips you learned for your fellow challengers...Yes. The suggestion of the salon quality shampoo.

I'm wearing my hair mostly curly for now so don't have any pics of my ends. I did 2 strands a couple of weeks ago and clipped the ends. I also clip my ends after wearing my hair curly for a few days. I can see which ends need to go as my hair dries out.

My ends are in the best shape they have ever been. I have very little breakage and much better retention.

‼️I picked up Giovanni 2 Chic shampoo, their mask and leave in. I also grabbed the Redken Extreme. I’d love to know your thoughts. Are they something that I should return or keep?? Thanks. ‼️

I think you are talking to me. I don't know much about the shampoos. One thing I noticed about shampoos. A moisturizing shampoo is going to look creamy or pearlized. The more transparent the shampoo the more cleansing and less moisturizing it is.

You want your second shampoo to be either a pearlized one, which means it isn't white but it isn't see through either. Or you can use a creamier one if your hair likes creamy type shampoos.

Does that make sense?

Redken Extreme seems to be for damaged hair and maybe has protein. Unless you know you need protein, I would use that on a regular basis.

The 2 chic sounds moisturizing. Try using that as your 2nd shampoo and one you already have for your first. Let me know how that works and see if you notice a difference in your hair between the first and 2nd wash.

With my first shampoo my hair feels clean. With my 2nd shampoo, it is like I have put conditioner on my hair and my hair just melts.

It was a great suggestion, but I can’t take credit for that one!

I haven't straightened my hair since August 2020. I am in Los Angeles, California with my mother right now. This would be a great time to get my hair done and professionally trimmed but I'm going to pass. I'm going to walk down to the beauty supply store and stock up on shea butter and castor oil and get me some baggies. I might go to CVS and get me some knee highs. All of which I use for me ends routine!

Hey sis. The knee highs sound intriguing. What do you use them for? I’m not too familiar with bagging. I need to do my research. Oh and my book arrived. I’m so excited to start it. Thank you!!!

I use knee highs as pony tail holders. I can pull them as tightly as I like and they rarely break my hair.

It is so annoying. I just have to check my watched threads every time I log on to see if there are new ones or I look at the list of threads to see if any have changed since my last log in.
I even said to myself yesterday that no one had posted on this thread. Lolol. Wow. Who knew?
