those who are still blow drying regularly, how is your hair doing after another year of blow drying? Care to share your Tips, tricks, and favourite product combos?
My hair was doing great until I decided I would start air drying for a few months. I got a lot of breakage (which wasn’t a shock). Now I am back to always blow drying and my hair feels a lot better.

I blow dry once or twice a week with the RevAir. I pretty much use the same products that I was using before. A tip that I have is if your hair feels a little stiff after blow drying a section, spray some distilled water on it and blow dry again but on low heat. It will soften it right up. If you have a water softener (not just a water filter), you won’t need to do this step because the softened water will prevent the stiff feeling from happening.

Welp, I'm now down $370 thanks to this thread. I've been eyeing the RevAir for a good while now and these testimonials really convinced me. I've been air drying for years partly due to laziness and also the fear of heat damage but I dont think it is best method for my hair (My hair ends up being so crunchy and hard). It is so helpful to hear from people who have been using this dryer long term :thankyou:
The good news is I was able to catch it on sale, the bad news is that it is unlikely to ship until February but I think it'll be worth the wait!

I forgot about this thread. I don't use my RevAir often but I'm still glad I purchased it. I wear my hair curly most of the year. I did blow dry this past December, and it worked wonderfully. I used the Mane Choice thermal spray and my hair was dry in no time. I put earbuds in and listened to music while drying my hair.

I may blow dry more often as my hair gets longer and I can put it up in a bun. Unfortunately, I never know what to do with my straight hair, so I don't do it often.

This is my second week using my revair to blow my hair out smooth enough to where I am happy with.
This week though, Im going to keep cornrows in and wig it. Wash day planned for next Sunday. Hoping to keep to this schedule and see how my hair fairs this fall and winter.

Might put in some mini box braids in December though and keep them in until March.

I've been super hair lazy but I finally got around to doing my hair. My hair is still a bit too short to easily put in my 2 flat twists on stretched hair so I decided to pull out the Rev-Air. I put it in a location that is easy to get to so maybe I will use it more.

I shampooed and then deep conditioned overnight. Today, I rinsed and applied a leave-in. I started with 2 minutes per section on the II setting until it warmed up. As it warmed up and sections of my hair were air drying I reduced it to 1.5 minutes on the I setting. I made sure I combed each section before drying and then did like a comb chase after 1.5 minutes.

My hair is nice and stretched and not overly dry. I'm going to use my Rev-Air at least once a month but may consider every other week to make styling easier. I just need to consider what products I want to use on my hair.

Still happy with my Rev-Air purchase.

I've used my rev-air for the past several weeks. It has been nice to stretch my hair more to make it easier to style.

I shampooed, conditioned and deep conditioned. I applied leave-in and then dried with the rev-air.

I will flat iron tomorrow for end of year.

This is my last blow dry for a while. Need to put the hair away to protect it from the dry weather.

Does anyone revair weekly? How has your hair held up to that? I love my dyson for a super smooth blow out but I think for weekly use the brushing is too harsh.

tagging @faithVA @Lylddlebit because I know you two use yours avidly.

Not weekly for me. My hair will hold a heat style for 3-4 weeks before I actually need to wash again. So when I blow dry or press my hair I keep my style for a while before washing or reapplying heat. I only style my hair weekly when it is natural because it has a tendency to mat if I try to go more than 2 weeks without detangling my hair in a natural style. I have done a "beat the heat" challenge in the past were I did heat style my hair weekly and by the end of the challenge my hair was fine but it just wasn't necessary for me and styling my hair more than it needed to be styles in order to look good and remain healthy became a hassle by the end of that challenge. Heat isn't my actual hair enemy it's shedding lol. Whenever I had a major hair setback it is either a hair dress(happened once) or shedding related(happens most often when I have a hormonal change). I would feel fine using Revair once a week but my hair just doesn't need it to maintain the balance of health and style so I don't do it that often. Plus I like rotating natural and heat styles.

I don't use mine weekly because I tend to wear my hair curly and my hair is naturally on the dry side so blow drying is for special occassions.

But if you blow dry frequently anyway and the brush is the issue, I think revair works wonderfully for that. The air extends the hair without needing to pull it with a brush or comb. I do still use the comb when the section is near the end and I do like a comb chase which I found really smooths the ends out. But I do that with a wide tooth comb once the hair is already stretched.

The revair may not get you a super smooth blowout because what is giving you that smoothness is the tension of the brush. It is going to give you a nice blow out without the tension.

What do you do with your hair after you blow dry it? Because the revair straightness may be enough.

I have In the last few months. It seemed to detangle easier if I consistently blowed it out on Sundays. I haven’t used it in about 3-4 weeks but this week I aim to continue to revair weekly.

I decided to purchase the revair while it's still on the holiday special price. This is my second time round with the revair. The size and difficulty storing of the first model was really off putting for me, and it never gave me smooth enough results to follow up with a silk press.

But my expectations have changed this time round, and now that I blow dry more frequently I don't care about having smoothe results every time, I just need to stretch my hair as the base for my next style. And the new model seems significantly smaller so that's a huge plus.

I think the revair might be a missing link to my regimen, to be able to stretch my hair with low manipulation. Heat isn't really the issue it's the manipulation that causes breakage for me. I'm looking forward to getting and using this new revair :)

MY INITIAL INFO:
Relaxed or Natural

-Natural
Blow dryer used
-Dyson and Chi Pro
Products used when blow drying
-I'm switching back to my oldies but goodies brushes. I recently tracked down and purchased the Monroe Latina Envy, Marilyn Flatter Me Too and Denman D5. I want to try a paddle brush. I'm thinking about Fromm The Intuition Hot Paddle Brush.
-I have the Mizani Press Agent Collection, Design Essentials Lavender & Agave Collection, Olaplex #4, #5, #6 and #7. I'm running out of conditioner in all of these. I thinking of trying the Dark & Lovely Blowout Collection because its cost effective and I can pic it up at Walmart.
How often you blow dry
-This past year about 5 times on my hair and once every 2 to 3 weeks on my mom.
What products do you use to moisturize (if any) after blow drying?
-I only recently discovered how well Mizani Press Agent Thermal Smoothing Raincoat Styling Serum is for using on the ends. I've used it several times but never paid attention to the part of the directions where it says it can be used as a finishing product. It does have water in it but it wont revert the hair. It's not heavy. I didn't have issue with it turning my hair stringy.
-I'm currently waiting for the Dark & Lovely Blowout Shine Gloss Stying Serum Balm to come in the mail.
-I've used Olaplex #7 and it doesn't do too much besides add a little shine. It wont take frizzy hair and make it look better.
Do you have any tips to share?

-Tension/Stretching blowdrying the hair before using a round brush is like rough drying without the hair balling up.
-Having good tension from a brush can really silk out the hair. I'm looking for my old DVDs and a DVD player to watch instructional videos on how to give a really good blow dry on textured hair. I'm super rusty.
-I remember for years people (including stylist online ) loved using Chi Silk Infusion to flat iron hair. It is not meant to protect against heat styling tools like a flat iron or curling iron. The company still refers people to their 44 Iron Guard to flat iron. So, just because a product has some of the same ingredients as a thermal tool protectant doesn't mean it's formulated to do that job.

my revair came in on friday and i used it yesterday after washing my hair and I must say it has surpassed my expectations.

following this technique I was able to get my roots very straight. My hair has retained moisture and even though it's not as smooth as with the airwrap I can hardly notice the difference now a day later and after adding some product. I'm not entirely sure but I think it's using less heat than the dyson as well.

I am looking forward to experimenting with the revair in the coming weeks/months

My hair on Monday after using the revair.
My roots are always damp after. I usually don’t wait a bit after washing. I just go straight in. All in all I just want it blown out to stretch.

You may be doing this already so just punt it if it isn't useful to you.

Roots can be damp for several reasons. But you can try making your sections just a bit smaller. And while drying move the piece near the scalp around the section so it hits those areas. If your hair is drying but the roots aren't, it sounds like opening just needs to be moved across the scalp area so it all gets some air. I believe I saw this on one of their videos.

And if you want it a bit straighter, try the comb chase with a wide tooth comb in the last 15 seconds of drying.

Your hair looks great.

Listening to this video really helped to refresh my understanding of how to select heat protectant products for the blow-drying process. It didn't dawn on me why I have always disliked using blow dry creams and lotions on my hair. I recently bought several products from Ulta that I now know that I need to return.

I would forgo flat ironing my hair entirely if my blowouts were this nice. I don't think this is very nice to the ends, but many use round brushes and still wind up with basic paddle brush results.

I wish I could even get back to how I use to do it in the past. This is the only pic I could find doing a round brush blowout.
