Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

I cut my hair and I feel good about it. Every time I’m about to enter into something new, I cut my hair. It’s like a rite of passage for me! Lol That shower and hair wash after getting your hair cut is the best feeling ever! It’s like being baptized. In my Pastor Shirley Caesar’s voice, Hold My Mule!!!
See, that's why I used to cut my hair so much :lachen:

getting my starter locs done on feb 15th! so excited i won't have to detangle all this hair anymore. My new regimen is gonna be even more simple than it is now and so much cheaper.

feb no-buy is going well. No plans on buying anything lately. Will buy some rosewater glycerin spray after the no-buy is over.

I just turned 35 last month, but I think I'm still stuck being a child at heart. All I want is fairy princess hair. When I watch characters from Netflix like Ade of Luna Nera or Agatha of The School for Good and Evil, they reaffirm my desire to grow my hair long. Even looking at those tight curly Lilla Rose Pinterest pics makes me want to purchase 30" kinky curly clip-ins and some hair accessories. Now all I have to do is retain practically every inch for the next 4 years and I should be pretty close to making my dream come true. Why does this take so long?!?

How do I safely remove pigment (a black rinse) from porous hair? I got a demipermanent dark blonde color and only about an inch of my roots took the color because I had been rinsing my hair dark once a month. It was fading once a month, so I thought it was out. I want this color to be more even. Thank you for all suggestions.

Semi permanent color stains the outside of the cuticle. Demi Permanent color is suppose to both stain the cuticle as well as deposit color on the inside of the strand. Permanent color removes the natural pigment and then deposits small color molecules that expand inside the shaft so they do not wash out easily.

The hair nearest the scalp is not fully keratinized and coupled with body heat can create lift slightly with Demi permanents. You can usually get 1 level of lift with a clear demi. Demi permanent is technically not suppose to lift. So you can go the same color to refresh faded permanent/bleached and toned color or darken the hair such as grays.

Some semi permanent color stains the hair almost permanently. Most people use a series of clarifying shampoos to remove the color. I heard others try vitamin c washes. When those fail, I see people pull out the big guns. Some do a soap cap/bleach wash. Then others resort to bleaching or putting in highlight to diffuse the stained color.

Chelating and clarifying shampoos and treatments are your safest options. This may take some time. If you can’t wait, you can consider leaving the shampoo on your hair and processing it with heat for an extended amount of time. This will make your hair dry.

I personally think you should go to a professional colorist and see what they suggest. They may tell you what needs to be done before they even attempt to fix it. I’ve known several people in my life with extremely bright colors who’ve gone through months of crappy faded hair to get it faded and healthy enough to get their desired colors. From personal experience I know DIY fixes can make matters on so much worse. Clarifying and chelating treatments are probably your best bet for at home. I really don’t know anything else that won’t compromise the integrity of your.

You look great for 35! I thought you were in your twenties

I want knee length hair lol. There was this girl on you tube who achieved it with wash and goes but she scrubbed her account clean.

Thanks. I wish I felt like I were younger. Lol

Knee length hair sounds so dreamy. You are going to look like Rapunzel.

By any chance, do you remember her user name?

Oh, her. Last year, she had switched to the BGC method with UFD instead of her trusty Kinky Curly. She did her own trims and everything. I hope she didn’t go to a CIK stylist and they chopped it all off.
Oh that sucks. She had really long hair. I wonder why she removed her videos

I hate when you feel like you're healing then you fall down the rabbit hole again. I hate grieving. These mini braids I did in my hair is my saving grace. If my hair was loose, I can't guarantee I wouldn't cut it off. I did literally the bare minimum. I washed it, conditioned, moisturized, and then finally sealed it. I'm exhausted and I'm laying in bed trying to ignore my feelings.

All of the ends on my twists are tangling into one another and creating knots :(

Think I stretched my ends a bit too much. Plus the stress of the past week has me touching my ends much more.

I want to massage my scalp with mn to combat any itchiness or flakes. Extra growth would be a bonus :)

I’ll do it once I get the kids settled.

So I want another mullet… I rocked one in high school decades ago and it looked great. I’m ready to do it again, but I’ll need a wig. The ones on Amazon all look like cosplay. Most are synthetic :(

update time:

I went to my appointment this morning. Got there an hour early at 8 (appointment was set and booked online for 9 am )
The loctician did NOT show up until 11:45. I got super pissed off because this was my day off and i preplanned this. I had been waiting weeks to get these locs done. I left at that point because I had been outside waiting for over 3 hours for this girl. She did not call or let me know what was up until I had already got in the car and left. I did not pay her. She just lost herself a customer.

I proceeded to go out for lunch and then went off to cheesecake factory for a slice of cheesecake to calm my nerves. Even did a lil window shopping at victoria secret pink but didn't buy anything. Then I went home to prep my work lunch for friday and maybe watch a nice hallmark movie.

But yeah, my day off was such a let down. I'm getting mad all over again just thinking about it.
