Wow! Your hair came out beautiful!!!

If I were still relaxed, I would be allllllll up on these things!!! I wonder how they'll work on natural hair...hmmm.

I'm natural and I used them once. Took them back the next day because I have flexirods that give me this look, but I prefer the flexis because you can control the curl size. They might work well if you're not good with rollers. Just my experience.

OP, your hair is gorgeous!

I used these on my 5 year-old and she is natrual. They work great. The original Curlformer thread has a one of our gal's you-tube tutorial and they come out perfectly coiled and springy.

Just wondering...Is this another style that only looks good on ladies with longer, thicker hair?

I finally realized that braid outs and twist outs don't look good on my collar bone length, thin strands and before I invest in these, I wanted to see if any thin haired ladies with hair shorter hair had good results. Got pics?

I used these last night. I brought 4 packs and a hook $50. I used a leave in and a foam for setting. Here's what I think.... They were easy to use once you get the hang of them. The curls are all the same size which I love. It took my thick hair about an hour to dry (same with flexi rods).

The down side is I am almost 8 weeks post and I think my hair is too long for the blue and green ones. I had to leave too much out at the top in order to get the rollers to the ends. :ohwell: so my roots are hella poofy. :nono: I had to end up using a head band because of my roots.

I did see where you can use two on top of each other so I may try this with a shorter one and see if I can get all my hair in and what the results of that would be. I think I am going to see if I can get a pack of narrow short ones and see if I can stack a long and short on on top of each other. If this works I will keep them. If not I still got my receipt and they are going back. :look:

How do that work? Do you just put two curlformers on the rod or do one at a time? I think I may try it

That's what the instructions suggest however when I tried it with two of the long narrow ones on the hook they didn't stay. The Wide pink and yellow look like they may work though. The trouble will be finding them in my area.

Ok, I'm under the dryer now and I'm so excited to share my reviews of curlformers.

This morning, I did a hardcore Aphogee treatment and DC. Then I parted my hair in 4 sections, made a Giovanni/LottaBody/Water setting concoction, and sprayed each section. I then used some setting foam and made small parts in the quadrant of hair I was working on. The back half of my head is in long and narrow, the top is a mixed long and narrow and extra long and wide. I purchased 6 packs of long and narrow and 3 of extra long and wide. I have 6 curlformers left (2 L&N and 4 EL&W), and that is because I saw I was nearing the end of my supply and made my parts larger than I would've liked. I'm going to have to purchase more extra long and wide because about 8 or so have hair coming out the bottom. Putting 2 L&N on the hook didn't work out too well and they got caught in my hair.

I did run into problems when the hook would get caught in the curlfomer. This was because I was putting them on too fast and the curlformer was getting jammed on the hook. Although the curlformer had a big gaping hole in it from the hook sticking out, once I stretched it out and got the hook out, there was no tear and the curlformer spiraled tightly again.

All in all, once I got the hang of putting the curlformers in and got my routine down, it was smooth sailing. The trick for me was that I had to twist my hair like 6x and kinda of hold it when I put in the hook around the section of hair.

It took 45 minutes to put them in. I've been under the dryer for about 45 minutes and I'm probably done. I will post pics if I like the result.:woot:

I have to agree with the OPs, these are the best device I've ever used on my hair to curl. No more perm rods, flexi rods, or magnetic rollers for me.:yep::yep::yep:

Yeap, that's the same thing that happened to me. I can't wait to see your pics!

Update-- I did another set with the with the extra long & wide(pink and orange). They were long enough for my hair, I like the way they turned out. The only problem that I had was that I had to reshape the curler but other than that it was alright. I still wish they would've made the long & narrow ones longer because I really like the smaller curls.

UPDATE: I forgot to take pics of the CFs in my hair, but I took some nice ones after I plucked them out.

The curls are very very soft, I think because of my mixture of setting lotion. It took me a minute to get the hang of taking them out. I'm a little slow I know :spinning:

Ok yall, here's another one. I just finished putting in mine about 30 minutes ago. i'm about to go sit under the dryer and voila another set of pic you will have. someone mentioned earlier that they wanted to see how it worked on someone with shorter thinner hair than most of the reviewers so far. I have shorter (touches my shoulders) hair, but no so much thinner, so hope this review and pics help.

It took me abobut an hour to get them all in. I bought the kit with the long and wide ones. out of the 40 long and wides i used 38. I didnt use any of the 6 short and wide ones. I used CFCG to moisturize each section then sprayed with lottabody diluted with water. The process wasnt as bad as i thought it would be and doing the back of my head was actually really easy.

Ok ladies i'll be back with pictures:yawn:

DITTO!! I want to see some short hair ladies...shoulder length and ABOVE try these Curlformers. I'm only shoulder length, but most of the reviews have been from those with at least APL hair and longer. I'm still not convinced!

Anyone have any pics?

Natural(something in the 4 category) with "just" below shoulder length hair. Used the long/wide kit because that was the only kit available. Purchase 2 needles. I would "load" while hubby used the other one in my hair.

Here are my recommendations:

1. Yes, get a partner to help if possible! One load another hook the hair!
2. For naturals, pull the curlformer as far up as possible so it is tight against the roots-less hair showing from roots to the curlformer...this will help stop the puffiness.
3. The smaller the sections the better
4. Do decide the direction you want the curls to lay and position the curls that way. In natural hair it is very hard to change directions once dried.
5. Keep hair as wet as possible, I used spray bottle even after the formers were in since it took about 30 minutes to "roll" my hair
6. Once I figured out to open the top of the former up to help slide the hooked hair through....things went a lot faster
7. If any strands of hair is left out of a former...things will be a mess!

I use keracare setting foam and lots of water to set. Hair was extremely soft and silky in comparison to even roller setting. Curl looked fantastic when taken out of curlformer.

Here is where it get tricky....the next day. I intentionally didn't wrap or pin curl hair last night. This morning...results were not good! However for a first attempt AND with hubby doing it, not bad!

I am doing my daughter's hair now. She is natural(somewhere in the 3 category) with hair definitely armpit length. I purchased an additional two packs of curlformers (extra long and wide) with her in mine. Definitely needed the extra long for her armpit length.

She's under the Pibbs now and I will post and let everyone know how it turns out!

Yeah hubby lent a hand...but I did better with daughter's hair.

No Frizz....No puffiness and absolutely GORGEOUS! I think it was because the curlformer was so close to the root. She's able to redirect the curls!

Pinkskates has joined the club. I'm under the dryer as I type. I bought 7 packages and used 6. I have never spent so much money on hair rollers! Yikes!!!:ohwell: But I am in love with these. Next time I will use all 7 packages, to cover more of my crown area. Ladies with BSL and longer you will need the Extra Long pink/orange ones. The Long blue/green ones were too short for my hair. Most of my hair is MBL and the front is 2 inches shorter. Here are some pics. I'm under the dryer right now. Oh and I used Aveda Phomillent as my setting lotion. Will post results later.

Pinkskates,

I got some curlformers and I'm under the dryer too!! I have APL hair and sometimes it felt like I was pulling that hook so hard to get it through that it was gonna rip my hair right outa my head. I dont know if my hair was too wet or maybe I didnt have enough slip, I dont know. Did it feel like that when you were pulling your hair through the cf?

OMG! I sure did have this problem. I fixed it by: parting that section of hair in half; and then re-wetting the hair to almost soaking wet. You gotta have a lot of slip so the hair wont get all bunched up at the top of the hook. My first few attempts were frightening. I thought I had rippped out chunks of hair.:nono:
