Thank GOD for Henna and Cassia!!!!!

Just wanted to share and give you an update on my shedding.

Well most of you know that I was suffering from a lot of SHEDDING. I mean A LOT. Man was I getting depressed. I mean nothing was working for me. NOTHING!!! Not even Nu-Gro.:nono:

But with a lot of praying to God, my prayers were answered. He reminded me of Henna. Why I stopped using it? I don't know. I remember giving myself one full Henna treatment and about a week later one Henna gloss. Nothing bad happened. I remember my hair feeling very strong too. I guess I just got lazy to go through the process.:look:

Anyway, by me reading up on Henna to refresh my memory on how to use it (it's been a while) I also ran across Cassia. As some of you may know, Cassia is what you call a NEUTRAL Henna. It is NOT Henna but it gives you the same benefits of Henna minus the color. (unless you are a blond or have grey hairs. If so, it will turn your hair a blondish color) I tried it. All 100gms of it, which was not enough. But I could not wait to try it. I was desperate. I had just giving myself a touch up a week before (I did not post pics because I was not happy with the way it looked. It looked like it had gotten a little thin because of the shedding and not much progress as far as growth is concerned. I could be bugging but whatever...) and wanted to try it to see if it would help with my shedding. One of the benefits of Cassia is that it does help with shedding.

So I mixed it with some ACV (I made the mistake of doing this. You are supposed to mix with water only), let it sit for a few hrs then I washed (clarified) my hair, let it airdry, then proceeded to apply from root to tip. The application was quite easy. I let it sit for a half hr then washed out in the shower. The washing out process was not bad either :) then conditioned. Man let me tell you! My hair felt sooooo strong. Hardley no shedding and it felt thicker!!!! :blush:Now mind you, this is just from using the 100gms, not having enough to properly cover my hair AND only left it on for a half hr! I was so happy that I almost shedded a tear! LOL

Ok. Now a week later (May 22) I decided to give myself a full Henna and follow up with Indigo to make my hair black. I mixed 250 gms of henna w/1/4 cup of ACV and the rest with distilled water until I got the creamy consistency. Then I let it sit in another bowl with boiling hot water overnight (because the heat is off) The next morning, I washed (clarified) my hair, let it airdry some then put it on. Wrapped my hair with saranwrap and Let that sit for 3 hrs, wash that out in the shower (not a problem) then let it airdry again before I mixed the Indigo. My hair felt VERY STRONG!!! :):yep::yep:

Let me tell you, that Indigo smells sooooo bad to me. It reminds me of weed :lachen:. Anyway, after I mixed it up I immediately put it on my hair because you cannot let it sit. You have to put it on right away. The process of putting this in my hair is a very different experience. I did not like it. It is very gritty and does not attached itself to the hair easily like Henna/Cassia does making it difficult to put on without making a mess. And it flies all over the damn place even though I was very careful! :wallbash: Well anyway, I put it all over my head, put saranwrap on and let it sit for 1 hr. Afterwards I wash it out with conditioner (not bad either), then DC'd. The results....Nice thick strong black shiney hair!!!:yep:

So now I am putting Henna/Cassia in my regimen. I will be doing this every other week or every 3 weeks. If I do not do the full henna I will be doing Henna Glosses (Henna mixed with conditioner) but not with Cassia. I will do a regular treatment with Cassia. Now as far as Indigo, yes i will continue to do this even though I do not want to anymore. I don't like the process. :nono: But I want to stay away from commercial dyes. Hopefully I can get awy with doing it once a month or try to mix it with the Henna and still get it kinda black. It is a pain in the BUTT applying Indigo to my hair!

Tonight (May 30th) I just washed and DC'd and now I am under the dry with a rollerset. Still MINIMAL SHEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!

Now since I am happy with my hair again, and after analyzing it, it seems like I did reach APL!!! I may take pics soon. I also been very lazy. Sorry. Don't know why

I am happy for you. I know what it feels like to have Xtreme shedding. I l <3 henna and cassia, too! Don't drop this from your reggie, okay? LOL!

Your hair look great I understand your feeling about the shedding , keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing your picture , this me hope I can have healty hair. be blessed

Glad you found a solution to your shedding. I haven't used henna in years, but Cassia is the love of my life!!! lol. I've been doing a treatment every week for a while now and my hair is so much thicker and stronger!!!!

Thanks for your story. I am a true "henna-head" too. I henna 2x's per month....WITHOUT FAIL!! Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. I am grateful for its strengthening benefits.:yep:

you do not need to airdry the hair after the henna application to apply indigo. rinse the henna and apply the indigo to towel dried hair.

funny you should post this! i just did a post on my blog about how much LESS hair is in my comb lately and i gave henna ALL the credit!

PRAISE HIM, girl!!! :happydance:

Checked your blog... great stuff. How do you manage to comb only weekly? I moisutrized every nite, and apply MoeGro Growth oil to my scalp every other nite....so I have to part my hair on a regular basis:wallbash:. I would love to know how to comb only once per week!

Hi Luv,
Where are you purchasing these products from? I am a constant shedder (depressing), I have my hair in braids currently, until the end of July... However, before I re-braid , I would like to do the Cassia and Indigo treatment for 1 month. Do you know of an online source? Thanks.....Oh btw
your hair looks so healthy and strong.

Your hair is beautiful. I love henna also. It has really thickened up my fine hair. I'm going to try that bun!

You can used unflavored gelatin or pectin (found in grocery store near the Jell-O) for your Indigo so it will not be as watery.

Your hair looks nice.

Baddison asked:

I noticed in your vid you pointed out that you are 4week post. I stretch for 12/13 weeks at a time. HOw do you finger-part your hair when there's a forest of NG below??

What is that you're using in your video to "grease" your scalp?

How often during the week do you part & grease??

Does you scarf ever slip off during the nite when you tie it up like that??

How often do you henna/cassia?

Once again....your vids are awesome!!

1. I section VERY CAREFULLY!!! It is quite easier that way then using a comb in my opinion.

2. I grease 3 times a week. (every other day)

3. I am using my "MN" mixture.

4. My scarf never slips off at all!

5. Henna/Cassia is done every 3 to 4 weeks.

Next time I am goign to do a Cassia treatment. I will post a vid on how I do that too.

Thank you!
