Relaxed heads - Do you baggie?

Do you baggie your ends? Whole head? How often?

I baggied my ends for about 4 weeks. I just relaxed my hair and I could immediately tell the difference in my hair.

I've never baggie'd.

I don't think my hair will do well with being wet for that long period of time. I remember one time I was lurking and I tried putting a lot of moisturizer, conditioners, oils, etc. overnight....my hair was a mess and my scalps had a couple of sores! What do you use? Also what did you do about work, going out in public, etc.? How did you hide it?

Can you explain the difference you saw in your hair? length, softness, etc?

When i wore cornrows I baggied my ends separate and then did a whole head bagy. Great for length retention. Did not have to cut for 8 months

I wear a phony bun almost every day. When I wear the bun, I slather moisturizer on the ponytail, wrap the ponytail in baggie, and attach the phony bun over the now baggied ponytail. I've been doing this since September and between this and stretching relaxers, I can really tell the difference in my ends and the rest of my hair. I may continue to do this for another couple of years.

I baggie my ends 24/7 and have been for 16 months. I use a scarf to cover my bag at all times and take it out and redo it every 3 days. Very rarely do I wear my hair out. I went from SL to BSL doing this method.

Hrrmmm.... interesting. Those that do not like to baggie, what type of relaxer do you use? Lye or no lye.

I wonder if my hair likes baggying because it is incredibly thirsty due to using no lye ...

I baggy sometimes when I am deep into My Stretch and my NG is Kicking B*TT taking Names and my Hair just feels overly "Dry":perplexed.

It can really tame the NG and help keep things really moisturized.

This Stretch, I haven't done it as often as I did during my last one.:ohwell:

But I think as long as you don't 'overdo' it and know the 'strength' of your hair and what it can tolerate, for me, I was fine.:yep:

My stylist uses Affirm no lye...even though I don't baggy I do DC on dry hair (or pre-poo with a cheapy conditioner) & co-wash 3-4x a week while I'm stretching for added moisture

I relax with Optimum Regular box relaxer (no-lye)

I use lye and baggy when my ends look a bit dry. It works.

I moisturize with a creamy leave-in and seal with just a tip of oil.

I baggy about 3 times per week. I alternate between whole-head and just baggying my ends. It really helps "lock" in some nice moisture when my hair is feeling dry. Baggying, FOR ME, is a necessary step after I complete a henna treatment. Its a fountain for thirsty tresses....

I use Mizani Butter Blends Lye Mild...and I never suffer from over moisturized, mushy hair.

I can only baggy for a few hours. If I baggy overnight my hair will be mushy. I only baggy my ponytail.

I only baggy during the day when I have my bun on. At night I take the bun off and rollerset my hair. This may be why I am not having an over moisturization problem...

Also, I know some people baggy with oil or conditioner. I don't. I use Mizani Rose H20 which is a creamy moisturizer.

I don't baggy...i tried wet bunning and my hair didn't like it, so i don't leave water on my hair for long periods of time.

I Use the Mizani Nighttime (or a product of similar consistency i.e Creamy) and then I seal with a Light Oil.

My Hair is never "wet" per se. Maybe more "Moist" than Actually "wet":look:

I tried it for a while and I was so-so about it.
I am a lye girl so idk.
I will try it for these last 4 weeks of my stretch to get my ends right, I know they kinda dry at the moment.
*runs so go lightly baggy now*

Hey!!! This is my hair!!!! I finally found someone with the same issue. If I leave my scalp wet I get little sores.....not a lot maybe one or two usually in the back of my head...from laying on the back of my hair overnight? I'm not sure. My hair doesn't even like condish to be left on overnight....I didn't want to chime in cuz I thought....they are going to think I'm crazy! :lachen: What about if you just baggie your ends? What were you using when you baggie'd?

Thanks for your help!

My stylist uses Design Essentials No Lye on me and I don't baggy. I may reconsider in the future, but I'm not trying to add anything new to my hair routine right now. I DC 2x a week so maybe that helps.

However, this is a great thread OP. I never thought of baggying using oils. I thought the process was always done with wet hair and some kind of condish overnight. I will probably try it one day using oils only and only for a few hours on the weekend, not overnight.

I am relaxed, and My hair is Extremely Fragile when wet, I tried Baggying and it did more harm then Good for Me, :nono:. But, depending on Your type of hair, it could be a benefit for You, as with others.

I've never baggied...i just would wet my hair, add moisturizer and seal with oil. Then i would put it in a bun and tuck the ends inside. When i realized my hair didn't like that, i stopped. Now i just make sure i keep my hair moisturized daily and seal with oil every 2 or 3 days.

I use Mizani Mild Lye and I baggied with a water based moisturizer for one whole day under a phony bun and my ends were really weak.

okay i swore baggying was done on your dry ends alone with oils or conditioner

I guess i was lost as usual. I tried this a couple of days but never kept up with it so i dont know if it worked. To me it seems like its a tie with the people who like this and people who dont.

There should be a poll for this

I'm baggying right now with Jajoba...but this might be considered a prepoo cause I'm going to wash it out in a few hours and then DC...either way I've noticed a huge difference in my ends from doing this....:drunk:
