I've only been back for a couple of days and found lots of great tips! I thought I was going to stick to shoulder length...but looking at all the beautiful pics of your hair as inspired me to go below shoulder length again(even if I am 50...). I may not be able to post like I used to but I am definietly back to stay. It's great to see all the old names...and so many new ones too. I remember when this forum just started out....it's great! The best hair advice out there is right here....

Welcome back, Sweet COcoa. Maybe you can come down again for another DC meeting. I remember meeting you at the first one.

Good to have you back, sweetcocoa. :) And grow that hair out, girl! Show no shame. Age ain't nothing but a number!

Question: I read that shoulder length is the most vulnerable time for hair since having the ends brushing against the shoulders and whatever fabrics we wear can encourage breakage. What do you do to combat this? Do you wear your shoulder length hair out all the time? If not, what protective styles do you wear?

I keep the ends flipped up when I wear it down...

Great question, Kitkat, and thanks for the tip Sweetcocoa. I will be shoulder length for the first time in my life this fall and I was going to start doing buns, but I like the idea of flipping it up when I wear it down. The thing is do you wrap it at night, b/c then it will lose it's flip, or do you wrap a scarf around the top and put big rollers on the end- just wondering what your nighttime hair is like.

I'm a newbie, good to see a veteran come back around. :)

Hi, it depends. If I wetset on rollers I wrap it at night. My hair naturally wants to flip up. If it was straight from either flatiroinig or doing a blowout then I part my hair down the center(or off center), comb it behind my ears tie the top half with a scarf and put 3 rollers(the bigger the looser the curl)
across the bottom. You can put a roller in the crown if you don't want it to be flat on top.

I get so tired of seeing older women race off to cut off their locks. I think longer hair looks beautiful on an older woman. She looks youthful too with longer locks.

Welcome back from another one "up there" in age. I was planning to cut my hair, but will try to hang on until I reach mid-back to see what it looks like. I like up-do's, but damn, long, loose hair is sexy!
