First a few months ago when I put the Mizani Butter Blends Relaxer in my sister's hair she hated it. Her hair turned out dry and nasty and I figured it was just her hair that didnt like it. So this week, I try it and my hair turns out disgusting too!! I'm like, what is going on here?? I've heard only great things about this relaxer. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Or is our hair the only hair thats hates it?:nono:

I want to hear the responses for this one. I just bought the system last week and am wondering if I should just bring it back.

Did you use the lye formula? Did you use the entire system how according to their instructions?

OH MY!

I have never heard of this happening with this system. I have heard of people not liking it....but not actually having their hair turn out disgusted.

Did you use the entire system and follow instructions?

You know that here on the boards we always say, "What works for one doesn't work for all."

I am sorry to hear that. My hair loves this relaxer. I am cheap though so I only bought the relaxer and not the entire system. Do you use protein after? (B4 the neutralizer). I have searched so long and finally found my miracle relaxer. Again, sorry this didn't work for you ladies. :imsorry:

I love Mizani Butter Blends! I've been using BKT and now haven't used any relaxer at all in 7 months. But if it were not for BKT, I would definitely still be using Mizani BB.

Sorry it didn't work out for you or your sister.

Editing to Add - The version that I love is the lye version. I never used the no lye formula.

I have never used the mizani bb, but a lot of people on this forum seems to like it. I just tried the Affirm system and I loved it (a lot of people here doesn't like it) however, I bought every single step and I followed the instructions to a tee!! Maybe if you follow the instructions as they are stated and don't substitute any of your "staples" for the products that are intended to be used with the relaxer you will have better results next time. I am sorry that this happened to you and your sister and I hope that with a little TLC and patience, your hair will get back to where it used to be.

I used it twice and hated it!!! It was a complete waste of money. My hair came out extremely underprocessed both times. I wound up just throwing the rest into the garbage.

Tangie,

Did you use the mild strength relaxer? Initially, my stylist used mild on me and I was extremely underprocessed. I told him to switch to the normal strength and I have been very happy with the MBB rhelaxer system.

I don't like this relaxer (no-lye) either. Mizani products never did agree with my hair.

This was one of the last relaxers I tried and it SUX!!!! OMG, I was tricked by the word "butter" in the name, oh it is going to be rich and creamy and make my hair feel so luscious and soft. WRONG. What my hair was dry, brittle--not a good look at all.

Yes, I think it was the mild. But now I use Hawaiian Silky and am very happy. But if I ever decide to switch up, maybe I'll give the regular a chance.

Wow... I am sorry you had this experience. I use the mild, lye formula and my 4B fine hair comes out great.

Are you guys maybe using something in your hair ( a growth aid, or a particular moisturizer) that maybe is interfering with the relaxer?

I just used to relaxer and the perphecting conditioner. But, I shouldnt have to buy $100 work of mizani product just for the relaxer to come out right should I? Hell, the perphecting condish was $31!

I normally use the regular Mizani but a couple of weeks ago my stylist convinced me to use Mizani BB because that is all she had. My hair looks great. I will never go back to the regular Mizani. I have so much bounce and swing. I am sorry it didn't work for you.

My results were the same! It left my hair so dry. My relaxer was applied in a salon. I had a bad experience in the past with the regular Mizani relaxer so I was already reluctant. But the stylist assured me this system was so much better...yadda yadda ya. :nono: A mess! I think I am just one of those people who cannot use any of the Mizani relaxing systems.

I use Mizani Butter Blends for Sensitive Scalp. I think it's No-lye because you have to mix it with the activator that comes with it.

It worked for me becasue I texlax with it, I'm not trying to get my hair straight, just loosen the curl up a bit. I like my hair to be thick and relaxing makes it thin. Texlaxing makes it perfect.

But I have been experiencing DRY hair from Mizani BB and so I want to switch to a LYE relaxer. Is Mizani Regular a LYE relaxer? Do you have to mix it?

I've stretched 4 months and I want to go 6 months and then relax with the right LYE relaxer.

It doesnt straiten your hair. I had to use a fine tooth comb and go thru the NG and it STILL didnt straiten. It doesnt burn your scalp so thats a plus.

Exact same thing happened to me both time I used it..using all those products in the system is such a waste a time and money.

There is a LYE version of Mizani Butter Blends as well. That's the one I used and loved. There was no mixing at all. I already have a dry skin issue and what I loved was that it worked for my hair and I had no dryness issues as a result. I used the strongest formula, though.

I like it a lot. I can't seem to get straight with the mild strength, but my former stylist was always able to get my hair straight with the mild. :scratchch

The medium/normal does well for me though when self-relaxing. :yep:

I use the Mizani Butter Blend Sensitive scalp today for the first and I like it.
I have been using Phyto for over 2 years.
Mizani Butter Bends leaves my strands straighter than phyto and I dont want bone straight hair so this works for me.
