I'm colored and Henna'ed .. it loosened but not much, as you can see..
I add A LOT of moisture to my hair .. I dont play when it comes to that ..
I was lazy a few years ago with color my hair broke and never grew past BS ..
On wash day .. I use sulfate free products .. and DC(1hr) my hair then a mini DC(15) .. and the a final con (less than 5min)
It's a lot but works for me ...pinapple,twist or braid up hair a night , in the morning I water spray with a bit of light con in it ... and smooth a bit of conditioner through it(i use a altered tighly curly method )
I trim or dust on the reg ... pretty simple but effective for me ..
My hair loves honey .. but not oil ..honey has done wonders for my hair ..

For those who went to Aveda for highlights...did you get foils? And about how much did it cost? I'm just looking for a ballpark, there's only an institute here and I'm tempted to do that rather than a salon that uses Aveda color.

i haven't had any issues (dryness, texture change, etc.) and i get chunky highlights and all over gray coverage at an aveda salon.

it works fine for me-

Ok. I'm in the minority. I've been GRAY since age 19 so I color my hair every 8 weeks or so but ONLY THE NEW GROWTH. When younger, I would streak my hair lighter shades and it will straighten my fine textured hair. I only darken the gray now, but if I overlap the coloring it will straighten my hair and change the texture. By the way I've been natural for over 20 years.

My texture didn't change but the health of my hair did eventually suffer from overprocessing (that was my fault though). I think if it's done right you will be ok.

I went to the Aveda colour institute, and it cost me £150, the only thing is that I didn't feel the colours were vibrant enough. My hair was fine, I also coloured using the L'Oreal multitonals and that was fine. I have highlighted myself, which was fine also. I also did a lot of conditioning washes and deep treatments, so I did not have a problem of my hair drying. I plan to have my hair highlighted later on this year, when I decide what colours, I want.

I got my hair died black professionally and I didn't see a change at all other than increased shine. Last night I dyed it ORiental Black, and the curls loosened not by much though it really reduced the amount of tangles I've had, my hair is holding more moisture, its extremely shiny, and amazing :lachen:

Soooo i lied.....I dyed my hair today with Dark and Lovely Deep Copper. The color is beautiful but I need to do a corrective, idk what happened but the ONLY section that came out like i wanted is the top right quadrant lol so I'm going to do all the other sections again but I'm only going to let it process for 10 minutes.
