I'M SORRY but did you pass gas (vent) ???

SINCE WHEN DID HAVING "A LOT OF HAIR" BECOME A DARN INSULT?!?!?


for the past 3 wks now when i wear my hair out on wash days i've been approached by a few people. 5 to be exact: 2 females and 3 males (seperate occasions). AND THEY ALL SAID AND DID THE SAME DARN THING!!!

"boy, that's a lot of hair" followed by the stank face... you know, the face that looks like they just smelled a fart. NOW I KNOW I DONT SMELL LIKE NO DARN FART so why you making that face???? i dont freakin get it. all my life, having "a lot of hair" was always a compliment. even here, when you post a pic and you get a reply saying "girl you got a lot of hair!" your reply is usually a "thank you" CAUSE ITS A COMPLIMENT! no stank face, NO STANK FACE!

now the reason i mention this now is cause it just happened (the 5th person, male). i decide i want chinese so i order some take out. i get to the place and walk in and this dude (who was actually kind of cute for being an a$$) and his friend or waiting for their take out too. i stand behind them waiting for my turn when i notice that i keep getting the shifty eye from the both of them from the corner of my eye. i then look at them and they're caught looking, i just smile and go back to looking at the chop sticks for sale (of course they're pretty chop sticks and i'm wondering how they would look in my hair ). then the cute one says..........

cute dude: boy thats a lot of hair you got ther (stank face)

me: umm, thank you??? (smile and back to chop sticks)

cute dude: is it yours?

me: the hair??? uh yeah

dude: (stank face again) oh.... nice

me: (the WTF look)




LIKE REALLY??? REALLY???? WHAT THE H*LL IS THAT MAN???? was there a new conference about how bad "a lot" of hair is and i missed the ish????

and its people i know too! my friend the other day gave me an a$$ backwards compliment "oh mo, your hair looks nice today but that is too much hair" IT WAS IN A DARN BUN!!! HOW IS IT TOO MUCH?!?!?!?

Wow, that sucks. My guess is that the strangers think it's not really your hair and your friends may just be jealous. Either way, your hair is beautiful! So, just ignore them....

I don't get it either girl....

they are probably just soo use to seeing ghetto chicks with half a head of hair walking around...and when there is a lot of hair its obvious its not there's

People are implying you have a weave. They think you put 3 packs of weave in your head and they are trying to get you to say "yeah it was a lot of hair but it was on sale" or something similar. Haters are gonna hate.

It's funny because my mom just told me the same thing. Like she was trying to insult me and discourage me from being natural by saying, "You're gonna see-- when you have a lot of hair on your head, and it's all thick and long. Gonna be running to a perm."

Since when?! Since when is having thick long hair a bad thing??? I know going natural requires knowledge and caring (just like all hair!), so what makes you think that just because it is thick that I'm just going to quit and give up?

I can't explain it but I can wait for the day I get the stank face for having too much hair !!!!!

the hateration is skrong girlie...i know its frustrating but folks are ignorant! thank goodness for this forum ,tons of us nikos cousins will be proving them wrong...natural, relaxed, or texlaxed!! screw those arseholes!!

I must admit I saw a girl walking on my block the other day and I thought the same thing - "that's alot of hair" but it was more from a grooming standpoint than anything else.

Funny thing is, she really didn't have alot of hair (more collarbone length stretched) but it was semi-dry looking and the ends needed a trim.

Then again, why am I commenting here - NO body looks at hair the way LHCF girls do! LOL

Next time someone says that to you, run both hands up and through your hair and say with a big cheesy grin, "I know right! I love it!"

Unfortunately we are in the age of the weave.

Some may think it's a weave, but also I think there are a lot of people that just don't think really long hair is attractive.

I've had a few people tell me that my hair is too long and that I need to cut it and put highlights in it. Also, I've been told that I should get layers. I've been told that I need to "upgrade" myself. So in other words, really long hair isn't in style. Cuts, layers, and highlights with straight hair included are in. There are posts over at the Long Hair Community about this.

I'm a fan of long hair and your hair is beautiful. Do you.

Some people are akward at communicating. Some people are not use to complimenting. So their words say one thing "Thats a lot of hair!" in awe - but their face/body language reverts to old habits (projecting negativity). Im not excusing them just giving a "possible" explanation.
Once I figured this out - I stopped taking people personally.

you're very right. everyone has been telling me the same thing.

"you need layers and to go lighter. maybe then you'll do more than just wear a bun" lol i tell them "lighter or darker, layers or blunt... the bun is here to stay!"

I mean there are so many reasons for these people's reaction but I wouldn't worry about it. Your hair looks nice and if you're happy with it that's all that matters.

"Haters" are out there but I also believe there are people that genuinely don't like long hair. I wish people wouldn't be so concerned about how others wear their hair to be so rude and give unsolicited advice though.

exactly!!! i see plenty of heads of hair that i wouldnt wear, but i let them be cause if they like it, then i love it!!!

but to just come up to me and pretty much be like "ugh!!! gross" like i have lice or something lol i mean its irritating... and i think just to have it happen soooo many times back to back in a short period of time, i was just done! once i vented to yall i felt 10x better though

by the way... did you notice the heat damaged ends (the pieced that wont curl)... i'm so ready for them things to grow the h*ll out lol i think that 1st pic is the only one that really shows them that well

I didn't notice until you mentioned it. Your hair has a looser curl so it's not very noticeable.
