Want black hair, what should I use?

I am ready to take a more permanent approach to achieving black hair. My hair is very dark anyway, but I still have remnants of highlights on my ends. And I want a shiny black sheen, as opposed to a dark brown color.

I don't want to cause dryness or damage, but semis/rinses do not stay in my hair.

Any suggestions?

Hey Mel,

To get rid of my summer color, I used Clairols Natural Instincts in Midnight (Neutral Black). I'll warn you that it was VERY DARK when I first did it. I used Prell shampoo to get rid of as much as I could, and now I think it looks great (pics in album).

My mom wanted to dye her hair as well, and I suggested she use the next to the lightest color in the line, which is Chestnut. It came out looking off-black, and she loves it!! She couldn't imagine using a darker shade. It's up to you, but I wanted to give you a few options.

I love my color! Also, I did loads of research on the internet beforehand, and I guess the Black (Midnight) never washes out. It's considered a permie color, even though it's semi-permanent.

HTH,

SG

I love Bigen in Oriental Black. it is extremely dark! i love it!

ETA: has no ammonia or peroxide and its permanent! not a rinse. it wont stain towels and sheets and keep washing out like semi-permanents do.

for a very long time i only used sebastian colorshines but i really got tired of my towels turning blue black, so i finally used a permanent color. i really love clairol ultress in soft black. i did a lot of research on it and it doesn't stripe your hair like some box colors. i have a pic in my picturetrail. just look under makeup looks if u would like to see the color.

thank u so much.

i have 2 folders in my picturtrail. my old products and current products.

right now i use
keracare color treated shampoo
bioloage ultra hydrating balm or matrix deep moisture masqued
(depending on how much moisture i need)
design essentials leave in conditioner for rollersets or airdrying

i just started using my honeychild honey cream, sweet almond milk, and old fashion grease. i really like all these products. let me know if u have any more questions.

I am having the same issues. I really want the black shiney sheen to my hair and I have been using rinses. I want something more permenant but not damaging. I was wanted to know more about the Henna. will it make my hair black and give it the sheen and also where could i get it?

mos def oriental black bigen..long lasting beautiful color and even if you mtg, the color stays in really dark and doesnt lighten up...youll really be satisfied..the indigo with the henna is also a good method and just as healthy as its all plant parts...

id stray from permanent dyes with ammonia and peroxide.. be careful.

Clairol Texture and Tones if u want to use something permanent. No damage, hair comes out feeling wonderful!!! I use the Natural Instincts in Midnight and my hair was very dry. It was suppose to wash out after (24) shampoos( I think). It took over a year for it to come out.
