Ladies, I thought there was no humidity in Los Angeles? Somebody lied to me!!!! :lachen:

This was me last week on the day I arrived at the hotel in Los Angeles. When I left my house my hair looked like the pic in my signature LOL It was only 76 degrees at LAX, SUPPOSEDLY no humidity, so I thought it would be ok to straighten my hair. I wanted to die when I saw myself in the mirror. Needless to say I washed, conditioned and put my hair in a ponytail REAL quick after this picture was taken LOL

Dear natural haired ladies,
If you straighten your hair in the summer time this could happen to you

I live in los angeles.... yeah, I wouldn't really attempt to wear my hair straight in the summer but I know a lot of people who pull it off somehow...
I don't think it's humid here, but I think there are days when there's not much of a breeze so maybe that was it?... *shrugs* lol

I learned this the hard way I had my hair done like the pic in my siggy, walking across the dirt of the baseball field if felt like 1000 people from hell were blowing their breath from the ground up and my hair looked like yours once I got on the bench a matter of minutes I tell you. :nono:

Womp womp. :( I feel you. I went thru this last week. It was my first time since my BC that I straightened my hair. Idk why I waited like a dummy, til summer to experiment. My hair poofed up within a couple of hours and the curls fell. It looked like a blowout by the end of the day. Straightening is a no no for me in the summer too, I guess.

What about trying Mizani Thermasmooth. I think when I tried it and posted my results I was transitioning. Now that I'm 100% natural and Philly is going through some strange heatwave I might have to try again. BostonMaria, I'm really tempted to wash my hair with the Thermasmooth and see what happens, then report back to you.....

LMBO!!!! Maria, you are a mess!!! Haven't you been seeing those threads where people have been asking is it even worth it?!!! Oh well, lesson learned. You're hair is still gorg :)

Lol, I haven't straightened mine in 2 months for this very same reason. My hair blows up at even the mention of humidity. My ultimate goal is to make it another 10 months without straightening, but I'll be happy if I make it a total of 6 months.

Oh man...I live in FL, and its like this (humidity) for over 60-70% of the year...The best time for me to straighten is between September (some years) and February....By march its cool, but the humidity creeps in on you....Its gross.

I flat-ironed (that Friday) for my Grandmother's Funeral in March, and had to whip it up in a bun the day of because by the next day (Saturday) it started frizzing up!....

Winter time is best for straightening here...IMO. I live in North Fl....I am from South Fl....Grandma's funeral was in Central Fl.....can't get away.........

Its so hot and humid here (In North FL), the car thermostat still says 85-95+ degrees at night when the sun goes down.......

Tools? Washed, rollerset & flatironed. Those moisture block thingies can't tame this fro LOL

LOL @ your post OP, but call me crazy, I actually like it. I love big hair. It reminds me of Diana Ross' mane so I'd say enjoy. I mean, no one needed know it was a flatiron job. You coulda just christened it "stretched" and KIM. :giggle:

Tools? Washed, rollerset & flatironed. Those moisture block thingies can't tame this fro LOL

Which ones have you tried and how? I ask coz they have never failed me. I do use a line I consider veteran in the field: John Frieda. And I use two of their products. My hair does not revert until I wash it.

hmmm, sounds like you needed some cones in your life. when i wear my hair straight (in cali, here in az, and in fl) i aways put a cone in. i like sallys generic chi silk infusion. i put that on towel dried hair, blow dry straight on low med heat and then flat iron... smooth for at least 5 days. well, not quite 5days in fl... but i dunno if that was the humidity or me sleeping crazy on the airplane lol

your hair look kind of tame compared to what my fro has done. :lachen: yeah, i've already come to conclusion that for 8-10 weeks out of the year my hair won't be straight.

oh no! I live in Cali and I cannot explain why that happened. We usually have very dry heat here. WnG is the way to go I guess...

Girl just turn it into a cute twist-out and KIM, lol. When humidity hits my straight hair it looks just like that. I refuse to straighten until all humidity is gone even though I'm tempted to give Sabino the ultimate test and see what happens. It did work last year but it wasn't super humid when i used it.

My hair has been getting puffy lately, and I'm a native of Los Angeles, so I should know better. :lachen: Normally, we do have dry heat.

I allways go to the salon, and the humidity was allways low, and my hair would stay fine.:yep:

Now my hair has been reverting lately, since I've been doing it myself. I guess it is the humidity.:wallbash:

I kept wondering if I wasn't pressing my hair hard enough. I tried that, then I saw these burnt smokey strands.

I'm ready to go back to the salon, because I don't like doing my hair often.

Were in our annual June gloom that has carried into July..It's been humid and overcast pretty much the whole month..a braid out is a good idea.

The story of my life! And I've developed a complex about it because even with 100% humidity, one of my besties ALWAYS has perfectly silky straight hair!

And I sit there looking like a victim of humidity and frizz.
