Heeeey y'all!

Just wanted to say hey! I wasn't gonna do a "Hi I am new thread" . . . but hey, its late and I am bored :grin: I guess I am a newbie as far as posting goes, but I've been hanging around in the shadows for well over a year now :lol: Some of you ladies, I know from other hair communities and through albums and such . . . :D I'll probably still be doing more reading than posting- so y'all don't mind me-- lurk status is hard to break. :yep:

So a little about me-- I am a relaxed, color treated, 4a/b gal and I've been trying to grow my hair out for well over a year now. There have been alot of bumps along the way--but my all of my wonderful hair forum buddies have kept me focused. :) My hair has come a LONG, LONG way-- from thin, breaking, weak shoulderlength hair and to the longest and healthiest its ever been! My ultimate goal is midback length and I am slowly heading past brastrap at my last check in. I passed brastrap at my last relaxer, but I'm on a campaign to get these ends under control. I lost a little ground, but I'm recovering quickly thank goodness! My regimen basically involves heavy protective styling, low heat, washing twice a week, no SLS, no mineral oil, protein as needed--lots of waterbased moisture and natural oils as sealants.

And I guess that sums it up! :D

Your hair is soooooo pretty! I am having trouble getting over the shoulder/armpit hump. How did you do it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't have been able to hold onto nearly as much length without it. It gets boring some days- but it really works for me. I'm color treated so my hair can't take as much heat and manipulation and still remain healthy. So definitely protective styling (mostly buns) helped me get over my growth hurdles. My hair was stuck at shoulderlength for YEARS. It wasn't until I started bunning and protecting my ends that I actually got to see my length and what my hair could do. I've learned that growth really happens at the ends--if you keep them protected you'll be surprised at the length you'll gain.

You know...I've seen your avatar pic and also the one your previously had up of the thick healthy, shiny, and thick ponytail in the comment sections of other fotki albums and I've wondered who you were! I even looked in the member list once b/c I wanted to check out your album. I kinda figured you were a member elsewhere. Anyway, I've admired your hair for awhile now, it's great to have you here! :)

awww thanks guys- its been a lonnnng road but we're getting there. :D and Yeah, I'm a bonafide fotki stalker and hairboard addict so you've probably seen me around. If you have an album and its unlocked, trust me, I've been allllll up in it :lol:

Yes if I may add your hair is beautiful, and I don't see nothing slow about it, it is going at a wonderful pace as seen in your siggy, I hope I can retain just as much in my one year anniversery. When I saw you post I could have sworn I saw you post here before, but it was the post from those fotki albums. Keep up the good work. :D
