I Said I Wouldn't do it; Promised Myself Not to, But I Did it Anyway! ((PICS))

I even joined a challenge to help me resist the temptation, yet I did it anyway, the very day after I checked in at that! Oh the shame of it all!!! Don't tell the ladies in the "Curly Till Christmas" thread!!! :look: :lachen:

I straightened my hair!! Well, somewhat...

IDK why I did it really. I guess I was just feeling restless and wanted to see how much my hair had really grown. I expected to be disappointed but was pleasantly surprised instead.

Here's how it looked blown out. Please just look at the hair and not the stupid facial expression! :spinning:

And here's how it looked "flat ironed." I couldn't get it bone straight for lack of patience and fear of using too much heat. Plus I like the added texture and fullness. :yep:

And finally,

These pics really don't do it justice because my hair feels FANTASTIC!! Even though I used a fair amount of heat, it feels moisturized, soft, and thick as all get out! My hair has NEVER felt like this before! EVER! It even has a bit of movement when I shake it! :yep: I love it!

Well that's it! Thanks for looking!

ETA: I'm hoping to make SL by the end of the year! Think I can do it?

It looks great! I really think we are the same length. I'd love to reach shoulder length by the end of the year as well but I know MY slow growing hair:nono:I'll be happy for all of it to be chin length by the end of the year. You're making great progress!!

Thanks! It feels even thicker than it looks!

Oh, and I know about the heat pass and I'd planned to use it in November. Now I don't know what I'm going to do!! I guess I'll have to force myself to wait till December 26th!

It looks very thick and uniform - surely a sign of health and being well-cared for. You're making excellent profress! :yep:

Thanks so much!

I always thought my hair grew slow too, but so far it seems to be doing pretty good! Don't worry, you'll make it to SL, we both will! Even if it's not by the end of the year we'll get there eventually! :yep:

What products did u use for it to feel soft and moisturized after u straightened? I haven't mastered the heat straightened + moist thing yet :ohwell:

Nothing special really. I started by co-washing with Suave Professionals Humectant conditioner. Then I lightly towel dried and added just a bit of Mane 'N' Tail conditioner. Next, I sprayed my hair with Aphogee Keratin and Green Tea Reconstructor and added some EVOO. As a heat protectant, I used Cantu Super Shine Hair Silk. It's not marketed as a heat protectant but the first two ingredients are exactly the same as some of the popular (expensive) heat protectants.

Then, because I remembered reading it somewhere on the forum, I sprayed my hair with even more water before I started blow drying. It seems counter productive to wet the hair even more just before you blow dry it, but I think that made all the difference! I've blown my hair out at before and it felt nothing like it feels now! Also, I know they say that using a lot of products before you blow out/flat iron will weigh your hair down, but my hair does not feel heavy/product laden or weighed down at all!! I just did this last night and my hair still feels fabulous!! :cloud9:

Thanks ladies! I really hadn't planned on revealing the the true length of my hair until I made it to SL, but then again I hadn't planned on even straighting it till November!

Oh well!
