Nupur 100% Natural Mehendi - Anyone heard of it?

baddison

natural for good
Thanks Baddison! What type of coffee and amla are you using? I've seen several brands and what are your measurements?

I use regular coffe lying around the house. Or sometimes I use tea. Do a search 'round here and you'll find out that a good coffee-rinse, or a tea-rinse is great for the hair. And coffee has just the right amount of acids to release the henna, and make a great bond. I tried lemon juice, and it dried the mess outta my hair. THe same for the vinegar. Coffee works best for me.

These measurements are a "best-guess". For me, its the cosistency of the henna that tells me when to stop adding ingredients....

I start with roughly 75g- 100g of henna. I went to Bed,Bath&Beyond and actually purchased a "grams" measuring cup.
I usually brew 'bout 10oz of coffee, and let it get to room temperature.
I use about 2-3 tablespoons of Dabur Amla oil. Amla oil is fabulous for the hair.
I add about 2-3 tablespoons of Aubrey Organics white Camellia Ultra Smoothing conditioner. Mmmmm....besides the heavenly smell of this condish, its also all natural, and it helps my henna rinse out like butter.

My consistency is smooth and creamy, not too runny, but not too firm. It goes on real smooth. I never, never, ever, every wait for color release. I get that while I sleep. I hate walking around with a heavy "Mud-head" (coined-by my husband). So I make sure to henna only and always on a Friday nite, so as soon as I awake on Satuday morning, I'm ready to start my saturday-moisture regimen.

This has been working for me close to two years now. Don't know if I'll EVER give up henna'ing. It has done so much for my hair.

This is the henna that i ordered. I have never used henna before but I am ready to take the plunge (very excited). I am just have two questions:

1. Exactly how red will this make my little grey hair?
2. should I have some indigo on hand to mix into the henna just in case?

Thanks Ladies.

It usually takes 3 days for your greys to change. I would not call mine orange. More like copper. I would suggest doing the henna the first time without the indigo to see how you like it. If the red/orange/copper strands are not to your liking, just apply a second henna treatment with indigo.

I did my henna on yesterday ladies and it came out nice. I'm not gone lie I was so nervouse it was going to leave my hair dry. My newgrowth doesn't really look like ng anymore. I made wayyyy to much though! Can I store it in the fridge or the freezer to use again in a couple of weeks? Would hate to waste it!

I was talking to my bff about henna. She is from yemen and knows about this stuff. (For some reason I never spoke to her about it). I told her I was using apple cider vinegar as my liquid. She suggested if I wanted a richer color to use strong tea water. It will help deepen my color. She said yogurt is also good. I am going to try the strong tea water tomorrow and will report back.

I just tried this yesterday and I'm in love! I had been wanting to try henna for the longest time, but was a little scared. I'm transitioning to fully texlaxed and figured my strands could use the extra strength.

I read through all the threads ( thanks baddison for your rave reviews) and decided to go for it.

All I used for my mix was -160 grams of henna, hot water, a splash of lemon juice, and honey. The consistency was kind of like yogurt.

Then, I put it in an iron pot, covered with saran, and placed on back deck in the sun for about 4 1/2 hours.

After applying, I left it on for about 3 hours, rinsed with lukewarm water and Suave humectant till water was clear. Then, added more conditioner, bunned and went to bed. This morning, my hair is just yummy :lick:. I can see the beautiful burgundy color in the sun on the end of my ponytail and my hair has never felt like this! My waves are still there (did loosen curl a teenie tiny bit it seems). Will take pics this weekend when I rollerset. Nupur is a keeper and I will henna again!!!

I did my Nupur last night, mixed it with coffee and let it sit on my deck for a bit while the color developed. Then I added a bit of tea tree essential oil, a couple table spoons of olive oil and a couple of squirts of Trader Joe's Nourish Spa conditioner. That was it, left it on for a few hours. My gray is a pretty color already, a deep copper. It will get a little darker in a few days. Nupur is definitely a keeper

I get my indigo from www.ayurnaturalbeauty.com. She is amazing, sells high quality stuff and fast shipping. My order usually arrives within 4 days. I believe she has a topic under sellers. Check it out before you order, she is having a 15% off sale until Monday. I believe you need a code.

I am sorry you had a bad experience with them. Did you report them to better business bureau? I am sure the other ladies have advice that dealt with that company. Ayurnatural is awesome. Very fresh indigo. She actually triple wrapped the indigo. This is the first time I am using it from her. I will report back tomorrow night on the result.

I just bought this on Friday. I never heard of the brand either. Found it at the local Indian store for $1.99 for 150 grams( I think it's enough for 2 applications).

I thought it was a condtioning pack more than anything else...it's a mix of mehendi & 9 powders:

Brahmi- hair growth
Shikakai- cleans& shines
Aloe Vera- moisturizer
Methi-conditions
Bhrinfgraj-luxuriant
Amla -darkens hair colour,shine, luster
Neem-fights scalp infection & prevents danddruff
Hibiscus- rejuvenates
Jatamansi- prevents graying

I forgot to post my update. The strong tea gave me a deeper color, which I will be using for now on. I will be ordering my indigo from ayurnatural from now on. It was so fresh!!! I love this stuff. I need to search to see if a topic about hair oils exists. I would love to get everyone's opinion on the different herbal oils. I am too lazy to make my own and usually go for the bottled stuff.

I haven't Henna'd in a while. The last few times, I used "Reshma" brand (I like it) but I realized that I still have some Nupur in my stash. I may use this tomorrow.

I used this yesterday and left it on for like 11 hours. I was too lazy to wash it out and I fell asleep. This morning it was a little hard to get out. I filled the sink with water and rinsed, then used a vo5 conditioner then rinsed again. I applied a dc and I have it on now. My hair felt stronger and thicker but it felt a little rought. So I will wait until I wash the dc out to see how it feels.

Nupur is my favorite brand.

I use honey, lemon, condish, folgers instant coffee in my mixture then add a mix of jojoba, tea tree, chamomile, lavender and rosemary oils to it afterward with an extra dash of tea tree for the tingle.

I've done indigo afterward in the past, but I prefer the warm black color my hair has to the blueish black the indigo gives.

I do a black mallow rinse after rinsing out the henna and conditioning. I boil water and add the mallow flowers, peppermint tea, sage and rosemary oil to it then let it cool to room temp and pour it over as a final rinse (strained).

I use mahabhringraj oil after I rinse and condition.

I hope I don't need indigo. I just want to use henna plain and not use indigo. I wonder if I can use this mix in my conditioner. Would it turn my grays a darker red or must I use indigo for that?
