Scalp on Fire - blow dry effect on EO.

Ladies,

I am using the M-T-G that everyone is raving about, but I also use EO: Peppermint Oil to mask the MTG smell.

I notice that my scalp tingles so very much with the peppermint oil. It was most noticeable the first time I ever used it.

Now, when I wash my hair and use these oils and then blow dry - I feel again like my scalp is icy/hot tingling WAY MORE!!!!!

What I've deduced is that the blow dryer amplifies the stimulating effects of the oil. Has anyone else noticed this?

Is this a good thing? A bad thing?

Should I do this every night instead of just when I wash?

What are your thoughts?

I notice a nice tingling sensation with peppermint oil too! I use it to mask the smell of mtg. I'm glad you asked this question because scalp stimulation is good, but is peppermint oil stimulation good?????

Every night I put on M-T-G and then I put on Peppermint Oil after it.

When I wash my hair, I do the same thing but then I blow dry.

Should I blow dry every night to get the extreme tingles to help growth, or is this somehow hurting my scalp?

It doesn't feel painful, just very stimulting!

I mix MTG and a little peppermint together then put it on my scalp. No tingling.

I noticed that you said the "blow dry effect on EO". Are you putting straight peppermint essential oil on your hair/scalp? I would not do that. You might want to consider mixing the peppermint oil with some carrier oil (i.e. jojoba, almond, etc.). Maybe 2-5 drops per tablespoon or mix to your preference. I have peppermint oil too, and IMO, it's too strong to put on raw. Try the carrier oil. You'll still get the strong peppermint scent without the tingling. Not to mention the oil is great for the hair/scalp too. HTH.:)

Yes, I have been putting the peppermint oil on raw.
Is this bad? What are the negative effects of doing this?

I've mixed pure peppermint oil with the M-T-G for months with no adverse effects. I feel the tingling after I apply it every morning!

There shouldn't be any adverse effects to your skin, BUT if your scalp is telling you that it's too much, maybe you should dilute it just a little with a carrier oil. If you're mixing the EO w/ MTG, you're diluting it to some degree. Since your scalp is telling you "Hell No", I would reconsider diluting it. It's probably alittle too much stimulation.:perplexed Just my opinion of course. **Note: A pretty decent site I like to visit sometimes regarding EO and CO (carrier oils) is www.aromaweb.com **HTH
