^ I just bummed this thread after doing a search. I forgot all about my original posting here. Im still on the fence. Since then Ive transitioned twice. Im sure it would b awhile longer since I wouldnt be happy with Sl's at this length. Do you have any pics you can share?

^ Wow!! Your hair looks great!! You dont see much of your scalp at all like Ive seen on alot of freshly done SL's. You must have pretty thick hair. You have some nice length too. Do you plan to stay in them forever?

Oh, and another question runwaydreams, can you tell me why they leave the ends kinda frayed still? Ive noticed this on all the pics Ive seen of freshly done SL's. Its seems like that would make it easy for them to unravel. Do they fix them at a later date?

Congrats on getting your sisterlocks installed. I know you will enjoy the freedom they offer. I have had braidlocks for 5 months now and I love them. My loctician is actually a SL technician and she recommended braidlocks to me because of the money I would save and the fact that they look just as good. People that see me think I have sisterlocks, but they are in fact braidlocks. OP good luck with your decision.

What is the difference? I mean what is the big difference in techniques used that makes ones cheaper than the other?

^^Braidlocks are tiny braids. When the new growth grows in it is interlocked just like sisterlocks. Sisterlocks are started with interlocking and maintained with interlocking. The installation of sisterlocks takes wayyyyyy longer than doing tiny braids, thus they cost a lot more. Plus Sisterlocks are trademarked and you are paying for that. Only a Sisterlock loctician can install them. However, if you learn to do interlocking you can do this on your own hair and pay zero dollars. Youtube has many videos showing how to interlock your own hair.

Honeycomb, "take all the time you feel you need". SLs are a commitment, the install is long and tedious, and unraveling them is even more long and tedious. I hate to read about those that have had them installed only to take them down a little while later.

Thinking long and hard about getting some SL.....Still in research mode tho. My hubby likes the idea, but likes them middle to long in length.

thanks. i plan staying w. them for quite awhile. but forever? idk i cant say.

ETA: my hair was/is BSL. i wouldnt want to start off w. short hair, some ppl can make it work but idt its cute, plus i love that i can wear it in a bun, esp since the ends look a H.A.M. right now.
my hair is really thick in the front and thinner in the back where the curls are looser and silkier.

the ends have to stay out so they can bud, thats part of the locking process.
