Your hair need to be balanced. The DC you used was not formulated to work in conjuction with the step 1 of the protein treatment. You NEED to use the balancing moisturizer. I've used this system twice (I'm extremely protein sensitive at times) and it says that you have to follow it as instructed.

I did use that one as well.. for 30 mins with heat still nothing... the directions say to just use it for 2 mins...

Ok, I think I see the problem. You used a chelating shampoo first. Your hair may have been stripped way down to the bone. The aphogee shampoo is moisturizing and a gentle one I think. That may have been the beginning of the problem.

I think that's why your relaxed ends are the ones suffering, they were damaged from being relaxed anyway and then stripped and having such a heavy protein on top. awwww. I'm so sorry.

You used: dc'd with kercare dc first, then again over night, then the aphogee balancing moisturizer 30 mins, then elasta qp dpr 11 30 mins, then keracare dc again couple hours, now im on ORS Replenishing, im only using this because this is the only thing that softened my hair before.

I'm pretty sure the ORS has protein , I'm not sure about the keracare or elasta qp.

I think I have a solution. First, stop combing and go get some aussie moise conditioner and some hello hydration conditioner. While you're there, get a huge detangling comb. I use this one in my house.

mine is either by revlon or goody, its brown.

my DD has tight 4B fine strands, and if this can detangle her hair, it will help you out.

once you get it, slather it on, saturate your hair to the point that you can feel it. they give great slippage.

Then with the tail end of a rat tail comb, begin detangling the knots and mattes. (I HAD to do this over the summer to my 5 yr old neice's hair because her mother had not been combing her hair to the root and her hair had essentially started trying to lock up in the middle.)

Ok, after you've detangled the mattes and chunks, apply some coconut or olive oil and massage it into your scalp, and carefully coat your hair(on top of the conditioner). if you are loosing so many hairs, then either you have an issue with shedding or your hair is severely weak.

Now, this may seem like a lot of combing, but now comb it through, from root to tips with the big detangling comb. You need to get rid o shedding hairs and seperate it all out. put on a plastic cap and sit under the dryer.

finally, rinse it out and comb it through as you rinse, to prevent tangles, put coconut oil, or olive oil on your hair and plop it into a pony. don't be stingy with the oil either.

sometimes you have to limit what products you put on your hair so you can see what shape your hair is really in. the oil will just help weigh it down, and hold in some moisture.

good luck.

that aphogee line of protein is so specific, it has to be used all together and in that precise order, I'm sorry you didn't know this. I can see how you'd think a DC would be even better. It makes sense logically. There must be something extra in that moisture recovery though that works in conjunction with the protein.

See, this is why we need regional LHCF emergency salons(professional or kitchen ones) lol

I'm sure if we could get our hands on your hair, it'd be back to normal in a jiffy.

I second the Aussie Moist. I will give you moisture overload which you need. Good luck OP. I'm sorry this happened. I've had protein overload once and it was frustrating.

that's good to hear. I've read on this forum about hair having to take days or weeks to get back to normal. Your gonna have to get do a lot of hairsitting to get it back on track. Just remember that moisture is your best friend right now. Your hair will be fabulous in no time

awww I would feel the same way too. I am so scared to use hard core proteins. The last hard protein I had was in Feb and I had a stylist do it using Mizani Kerafuse and moisturfuse. I only use the aphogee 2 min.

Wow sister, sorry to hear this happened to you. I agree with several other posters that Aphogee 2-step may be too much for your natural hair. I'm relaxed and use it without any problems, but I only use it after washing with a moisturizing or conditioning shampoo. And I rinse, rinse, and then rinse some more. I probably rinse for at least 10 minutes straight. I rinse that protein out as well as I do relaxer cream. You really have to RINSE well or you'll have issues. Keep moisturizing and you'll get back to normal.

I know I am not the one having the problem right now, but I just had to say WOW to all of the great advice here. You guys are awesome, you guys should have a PhD in Hairology. I really like that you are all willing to share your tips and are so knowledgable. :bouncegre:notworthy

Just checking on you. Hope your hair is feeling better.

It is doing much better, i blew it out last night and there was far far less breakage. I think keeping it wet also was causing a lot of breakage. I kept DCing and not really letting my hair dry. My ends are incredibly thin now but at least i still got some hair on my head... thanks for your help!!!
