Do you get MORE impatient as your hair grows?

I flat ironed my hair Sunday night. There was a noticeable difference in length since I ironed it roughly a month ago. (Thank you, new regi!) I was having major dryness/breakage issues for most of the summer, so you think now I'd be satisfied that I'm retaining again without the use of braids, but nooooooo, now I'm even more impatient waiting for BSL.

naah. Ive given up on watching my hair grow or measuring the length.
I've been stuck at an inch away from bsl since may 2009 due to breakage that i don't even care for meeting my goals anymore. At this point i am just happy to have hair that is past Apl.

I don't really get impatient anymore, if there is one thing that this hhj has taught me is patience. I use to take progress pictures all the time now I only take them a few times a year when I relax. However, I do get more particular about how my hair looks as it gets longer. What once would have been okay (as far as length over health), is no longer acceptable. I can always find an area of my hair that needs special attention. I can't wait for the day when everything on this head of mine comes together.

Yes and no. Before I would take pics all the time. Now only a couple times of year. But at the time same like right now cause im close to BSB, Im itching to take my hair down from this bun and start taking pics to see, but I'll just wait, I have to relax in 2 weeks ne way. I'll do it then.

What helped me with my anxiety is just setting certain dates to check for length like every 3-4 months. I can't really tell that my hair is growing on a day to day basis so when I finally check for length, I am pleasantly surprised that my hair got significantly longer.

I use to always check for growth on my head. When I had a lot of new growth, in between the month, I would flat-iron or mess with it to see the length. This would break some of my hair off and barely get to my progress. Every since using protective styles to keep my hands from touching my head... I am achieving better growth.

Yes I feel impatient sometimes. I wish it were my one year HHJ anniversary already so I can check my length.

On the HL thread we call where I'm at PURGATORY. LOL, so yes, I'm impatient. I felt like getting from BSL to waist was decent, but going past waist it's like my hair is trying to play a joke on me. I pull it down and it feels exactly the same way it felt back in may.

I'm impatient, but trying to control that and wont try to check my length again until I next straighten in October. Hopefully when I see the growth I'll be able to exhale and trust that it's healthily growing.

I'm impatient. I feel like I've been trying to reach APL forever. I haven't straightened my hair in a few months because I can't deal with the frustration of being so close to my original goal.

YES!!! I'm inpatient. I recently straightened my hair and no one even noticed my growth! Secondly there 's a certain "look" I want with I'm wearing my natural styles and I just don't have it yet and it's really bothering me! and to make matters worse every time I read on the forum that someone is using something that's made their hair grow I want to go out and get it!

I would like to add though, I appreciate all the optimistic views you ladies have expressed! also I am happy that my hair is healthy and that it's growing and I'm trying really hard to embrace that stage I'm in.

I used to. It's as if I would wish for time to pass so that I could measure my growth, and I would take my hair out of protective styling so i could measure. Now, I have my hair in so many braids it's not worth the hassle to try! I just wash and go. I know it's growing.

Yes, everyone here has a great, optimistic attitude.:yep: I think my problem is that right now my hair is "out." I've just been bunning it all summer. I like braids because my hair thrives on low manipulation and protective styles and braids really helped my hair over the past year.

Yes! I wasnt this impatient when i began but usually my obsessions are short lived so hopefully this blows over within the next year or so. I think because my hair has been mostly braided for the past year and 3mths. Maybe its time for me to get another wig to take my mind off of it- my next update isnt until jan and i hope im not too disappointed.

That is so me!!! This obsession has lasted a little longer than I anticipated but I am not a patient person to begin with so if it wasn't for pics or my husbands observations I'd truly feel that there hasn't been any difference!
