hey ladies, i've been hearing that Nexxus has been sold to the VO5 guy, and that it will no longer be in salons. I dont know when that's going to happen... but i'm seeing that in some salons (the ones i frequent) they seem to be running out of the Nexxus products! and I went to the Walmart salon, they had NO nexxus products there... dont know what's going on. Maybe I should ask them

ANYWAY, the point is, Nexxus users, are you going to switch to something else?

As for me, i'm thinking of mostly organic products, especially for co-washing, since I plan to do a lot of exercise and wash more often, don't wanna dry out my tresses. What do you think?

Yes, it's true Nexxus was sold to Alberto VO5, see article below. I guess I am going to have to stock up on my Nexxus products.

Alberto-Culver Completes Nexxus Products Acquisition

MELROSE PARK, Ill., May 18, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- The Alberto-Culver Company (NYSE: ACV) today completed the cash purchase of substantially all of the assets of Nexxus Products Company of Santa Barbara, California including trademarks, inventory, accounts receivable and other items. Alberto-Culver President and Chief Executive Officer Howard B. Bernick said, "Alberto-Culver was built on great beauty brands and professional beauty supply distribution. We believe that the Nexxus hair care product portfolio adds a strong new presence to our already successful, proven lineup. Alberto- Culver Consumer Products Worldwide has had good success in building brands like Alberto V05, St. Ives and TRESemme. I am confident that our team can grow further what Nexxus Products' founders and owners, the Redding family, have done with the brand and also add a dynamic new growth dimension to it. This transaction represents an exciting long term opportunity for Alberto- Culver," he added.

Alberto-Culver Company manufactures, distributes and markets leading personal care products including Alberto VO5, St. Ives and TRESemme in the United States and internationally. Its Pro-Line International unit is the second largest producer in the world of products for the ethnic hair care market. I'm sure we'll be able to continue buying the Nexxus products, maybe a lower prices. If anything should happen, there's always the generic Nexxus that Sally's sells.:)

I'm switching to J/A/S/O/N and Giovanni. I've been wanting to transition to natural products anyway so this is the perfect opportunity. The Sea Kelp conditioner by J/A/S/O/N was just as good if not :::gasp::: *better* than my beloved Humectress. So um, yeah, if I can find a replacement for Keraphix, I think I'll be ok. (I'm crossing my fingers for Giovanni's Nutrafix).

Aubrey Organics GPB Conditioner is a great substitute for Keraphix. It is found at Vitamin Shoppe and most health food stores.

I saw that Nexxus was being sold half off at the salons in Walmart and the manager of the Salon told me that when they start selling Nexxus in the actual Walmart store, it will be cheaper, but it will be a watered down version of the Nexxus you know. So the Nexxus that may be working for you now, may not work the same for you in the future. Stock up now, ladies. Personally, Nexxus didn't do anything spectacular for me, so it won't affect me much. I am still trying to find the rigeman for me.

That is what I was thinking...Nexxus products will probably be available almost every where now for cheaper prices but the quality won't be the same.

since DivineInspiration is the one who got me started on Nexxus, whatever she does, I do, lol. J/k

but in fact, i want to get new products as well. There goes me finalizing my product list for 2006. I guess I need to start shopping for new stuff. I like the Keraphix and the Therappe, I could use more slip in Humectress. I know that I love the Giovanni Direct Leave-in and Nexxus Headress.... ugh... decisions, decisions

I went to the BS stores that i frequent, and they didnt have the two big bottles of Humectress and Therappe for $25 anymore. That thing could carry me over till summer!

Now that I'm taking my exercise regimen SERIOUSLY and will probably end up co-washing every two days, I want to buy an organic conditioner for that. One that moisturizes as well as clean the scalp, removing sweat and grime. I'm looking into Giovanni, and others as well.

REGIS Olive Oil Conditioner will replace my lovely Humectress and I will still have my Neutrogena Products as back ups. Elucence products will gradually become the dominant force that once belonged to NEXXUS in my hair care stash :)

Girl, I highly recommend J/A/S/O/N's Sea Kelp con...any slip you missed from Humectress is in this con & then some. I mean, I was slippin and slidin through my hair, and there was not a tangle in sight! My mouth was literally hanging open upside down!

Carlita, I think we're both looking to move towards organic/natural products so we can be experiment buddies and keep each other posted on the performance of products that we try. Want to?

At least Giovanni Direct isn't changing...I'd probably have a nervous breakdown if it did b/c who knows where I'd turn for a leave-in w/o parabens that does a fabulous job. Let me pause for a moment to reflect on Giovanni's glory...

Ok.
Carlita, let me know what you come up with!:D

They have them at Costco....okay, so I went to Costco today and bought 13 bottles of shampoo and conditioner (I' won;t admit how much I spent, but this should give you an idea:spank: . Then I proceeded to the BSS and bought all they had on the shelf (there really wasn' that much)....The little Asian guy behind the counter looked at me like I was CRAZY, went and said something in his native language to a woman who worked behind the counter. She looked at me sideways, nodded, and approached me. Rang me up w/ no problem but she had this look on her face, like I was smuggling crack or something (storin' nuts ladies...just storin' nuts) What if I get to Maryland and the Amish don't use Nexxus, and there are no BSS within 100 miles....(starting to hyperventilate........calming self w/ an acorn....ahhhhhh). Yes, I'm a PJ, but I'd rather have it and not need it (yeah right!@) tahan need it and not have it (all PJ's has this misguided sense of sales!)

Ok, DivineInspiration, we're on! *what is this, a battle?* well i still have some Nexxus to carry me over to mid February, I think, although i have no-leave in WHATSOEVER  so yeah my hair's been a little dry... i have NO keraphix. I'm going to buy a new one though, b/c until i find another protein con, then i'm stickin with this one. I need to go to the Vitamin Shoppe, i might go tomorrow, actually and pick up some Giovanni leave-in, as well as an organic conditioner. I hope to exercise nearly everyday next week. I'm going to miss Nexxus. Our relationship was great while it lasted, but time for a new lover :ohwell:

Not a battle, friendly exchange of vital information  Girl I have enough Nexxus to last until March or April so we're both good for a little while.

Keraphix is my main concern too. I feel confident that I can replace Therappe and Humectress, but Keraphix will keep me up at night, j/k

I know, it's a shame about you and Nexxus. But you're right...a new cowboy will come into town and steal your heart.

And that's the only thing I'll truly miss. I hate Aphogee.

Nexxus was the first "salon" line I ever tried. The memories :(

NOOOOOOOOO! When I heard about Nexxus being sold, I thought, "don't worry... it's going to be the same, just cheaper... WHY would they mess up something so good?" WHYYY! :whyme:
Keraphix and Emergencee were THE things that set me off on my hair care years ago b4 the boards. Before I even knew how good they were I was piling them on my hair and my hair retained some length like never before!! I don't know what I'm gonna do?! These were my first staples that I ALWAYS thought I could count on. :( :cry3:
