Blackonyx had mentioned in one or two of her recent videos that she trimmed 1.5 inches total throughout the year and recently had a 2.5 inch cut that was done in the salon. She stated this via writing in her video; she never verbally said she trimmed/cut so I can see how this info could've been missed by some.
Her growth seems normal to me for 2 years considering the cutting/trimming she has done.

hey, my hair is on some other these days too, but for a minute there i was almost convinced to try her products one day looking at her shine and definition, but this straight hair vid...no no no ma'am. the stiff hair, dry scraggly ends, i already could tell she had fine hair but i was just expecting something more silky and bouncy cause her again her hair is bomb natural.
with that said having natural hair is can be a blessing and a curse because you can hide damage so easily. I'm sure no one notices my hair is damaged like I do. I am just really not impressed, but maybe she's not good at straightening her own hair. it's possible she dried it out during the process cause it does look a little dry. idk.

She did say in her video that she has had 2.5 inches cut off in the two years. Also, some people just don't have good technique when it comes to flat ironing hair. I know before I got a good routine down my hair would look kind of limp. I did expect to see more length though. I will say I hope that this was just an "I'm sharing with you how I flatiron MY hair", video and not a "this is how you flatiron" video. Kwim?

She's made that BSL claim before and I called BS on that. Even in that vid, there was nothing to suggest she was BSL. I honestly think she thinks her hair is longer than what it is. She's got really beautiful hair but I think in an effort to promote her products, she keeps making claims that are not quite true (i.e. when I started using my products, my hair grew ____ faster). When will people realise that there are no magic products?

I questioned her being BSL and she got snippy with me. Anyways, I stopped taking her seriously after I watched one of her older videos where she was claiming to be 3c.

I didnt expect her to have thick flat ironed hair because her hair is not dense, as you cud see when she did that vid with the 2 strand twists ...

I really like Blackonyxx, more specifically old school Blackonyxx, I understand you're a business woman, but I think there could be a few less plugs. But regarding all of your comments regarding her hair looking stiff, the length, and the possible damage - one thing that I've learned from watching her videos is that she uses ALOT of product. Just because you make 20 products doesn't mean you have to use them all at once. But that's just my opinion *shrugs*

For the most part I like BOnyxx; just like with anyone or anything else I take her with a grain of salt. She has some good moments and she has some wth moments. Meh..such is life.
My only real comment regarding the hair, is that she did say that she doesn't care for straight hair on her...so maybe her technique is off..and some more stuff. I didn't care for the straight hair/style..but that is my opinion...she was obviously feeling it. Kanyeshrugs...

The number of years one has been natural really dont mean anything in terms of how long their hair is or should be. Many facts, more than just number of year, come into play i.e her growth rate, number of trims, retention etc. Most of us usually expect people to be at a certain length because they have been growing out their hair for X number of years, but some times it doesnt work out that way.
I think I was NL at one year, SL at 2 years and now APL at 3yrs. When I BCed, I went nearly bold.
Her ends looked rough, I think she knew that and thats why she went to get a trip or cut.

I totally agree. The BlackOnyxx now will shove those products down your throat. She even has one video where she is putting down other products and uplifting hers.....then when ppl ask for ingredient lists she gets upset. I don't understand her advertising tactics but if its working for her thats all good but seriously sometimes her videos are hard to stomach. And if she mentioned that she cut a total of 4" (wow) was there a reason as to why? Im not hating Im just saying its a bit misleading sometimes cause in one of those videos she claimed to be nearly BSL but then its like what the heck happened that one would have to trim off that much hair all within a year? Or am I wrong? I like her as well, the old her anyway, but the flat-iron video just kinda throws everything she has said about her products for a major loop.

I missed her flat iron video. She pulled it before I had a chance to view it. Her claim was because it was redundant and you could see her technique when she flat ironed her bangs. Ok whatever.
Overall, I still like her though.

I really don't think she trimmed that much. I think she was saying that cause she knew it wasn't going to be that long when she flatironed.

I'm not crazy about the hairstyle.
But then again, I stopped watching BO's vids a long time ago because I got tired of the product advertising. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that a sista gets her hustle on but it's seems like the vids are all hype and product pushing not technique, health, or growth.
