I think you'll be beautiful at any length :)

(*Your bold.... I'd probably start at bsl first, but if you're feeling daring, I'd say go for it!)

Sorry to tell you, but in order to get that color and the color to be consistent - you should go to a colorist. It doesn't look like much, but to go from very dark to a light brown takes skill and chemicals. A box set will not give you that color.

If you can't afford it, wait.

If you really want to do then I think you should try it maybe you could do a rinse 1st so its not as damaging plus if it doesn't work well its easy to remove

Why when I read the thread title I thought you were saying that since you were dying, you would be cutting your hair? lol

Anyway, I did just that back in December. I cut my hair from MBL to a little above SL and dyed it jet black. My hair was always black but not jet black. I feel so much better with shorter hair and I don't regret my decision at all! People in the salon kept trying to convince me not to do it, but I had my mind made up.

I personally would not dye my own hair, especially if I was going lighter.

I'd wait until I could afford a very good colorist that know what to do with my texture of hair.

I hope it works for you but plan to do some extra conditioning to prevent breakage and dryness as well as products for color treated hair since many dye jobs turn more orange or brassy over time.

What about the color or highlights, plus nice layers? Or maybe a really fierce wig? Or whatever would shake up your routine... wear it straight for a while or check out youtube and try some new styles.

I find when I feel antsy and in urgent need to change my hair, it's just because I'm stressed about something else in my life. I've had bad bangs, gone back to relaxing only to start transitioning again immediately (a few times)...

All in all it's only hair and if you're sure then go for it. You know we're going to want lots of pics!! lol

OP, you scared me for a second! English is not my first language but isn't dyeing vs dying? (or maybe it is because English is not my first language that I'm careful about spelling)
Not to be the grammar police but in this case the title scared me!

I knew somethig was off in the title, but I couldn't tell what. I also thought OP was dying (as in death). Wow......Opps.

Remember when Jada Pinkett's hair matched her complexion in nutty professor? You don't want to go there lol the original darker color brings out that skin tone if it is you or your complexion.

Just remember what color can do to your hair. Find a good colorist, don't lighten at home and baby your hair afterward. I want to see after pics not a hair damage thread when your are done! LOL

Dooooooooooooooooooo itttttttttttt. I think box dye gets a bad rap. Follow the directions, do a strand test first, and have fun. A colorist, like any hairstylist, can still jack up your hair. And it's cheaper.

Personally, I think when you stick with dyes geared to women of color, they're better at predicting what it would look like on dark black hair.

Having said that, it's not necessarily a bad idea to try a wig first to make sure the color will work on you. Sometimes you just don't know until it's on you.
