hi, ladies. i know alot of women do their own big chop, and i have no experience with cutting my hair and don't have anyone that knows how either nor wants to attempt. i would like to go to a salon, but am trying to decide either a place like hair cuttery or a natural hair salon. the hair cuttery is the more $$ friendly alternative, but i'm not sure. anyone have any experience with going to a salon for your big chop? or anyone go to a hair cuttery or similar type of place?

Im more of a DIYer, but if you feel like its not something your comfortable with I say get a consult or two and make the decision that way. SN: My 2nd time BC'ing my dad did it.

I think it comes down to how close you plan to cut your hair for the BC. For a TWA, a barber might be a good idea OR you can cut it yourself and allow the barber to shape it up.

For anything long, for example, BSL to NL, you might try to save money by going to one of those hair cuttery type places.

thanks ladies for your responses. my hair seems like it will be between nl/sl natural. i've been transitioning for 21 months, so its def not a twa. i may just go to a natural hair salon to have it done. i will get a consultation though, and if i like what they have to say go there. keep the suggestions coming.

I had mine done at a salon. It was great, she evened it up, washed, deep conditioned, and twisted it so I could wear it in a twist out in a couple of days. I was about NL as well.:yep:
