Black College Wire article - Natural Hair and Nappy Heads

I feel for this young lady. For all the money that's being spent on her edgucation her views are terribly flawed and proff of a closed mind. She pointed out that she thinks natural hair equals short hair. That all BC's are done when one has only an inch or so of new growth...She's completely unaware of 1 year + transitions and transitions with out BC'ing. She's completely unaware of lovely twists, twist outs, braid outs, puffs, curly puffs etc... I also found it strange that she feel naturals are trying to get back to their roots - that's funny because I decided to go natural because I just wanted to change something about myself (I was turning 30 and feeling funky).

I hope somebody was able to find this girl on FB and give her the link to this site....The ladies here on the forum will be able to school this young one and broaden her views on being natural, why go natural and how awesome natural hair is when it is properly maintained and cared for.

I thought it might be (poorly-done) satire but I guess not.

how is being natural not for everyone when your hair grows out of you scalp that way. a style may not be for you. as in braids, twists or up dos. but whatever is natural to you(your eye color, skin color, and hair texture) is FOR you. it was yours the day you were born but all of a sudden because you received a relaxed at 10, now natural isnt for you. its YOURS.
