My hair has been tangling like nobody's business

every single wash day for the past month or so and absolutely nothing works. My hair is not long at all . After getting a short bob cut back in October, I have even reached SL yet so length is not the issue. I'm only 8 weeks post ( 4B lye relaxed) so that's not the issue either. My roots detangle fine, it's the length of the hair that gives me problem. It seems that it matts terribly when ever I wet it. Ive tried all the things that have always worked for me Silicon mix, Biolage conditioning Balm , ORS replenishing pack, Roux Porosity control, oil rinsing. NONE of these help at all. I don't know what else to do. I washed my hair in the shower last night and it was a disaster .I'm actually scared to wash my hair again :look:. I don't know what else to do. Tips please!!!!!!!!

Maybe you need to prepoo with something like a conditioner that provides good slip mixed with oil and put it in loose braids/plaits. Then wash it that way concentrating on the roots when you wash. When you're done, take down one section at a time and detangle that way. Alot of the ladies wash in braids in order to avoid tangles/matting.

When I was relaxed I pre-pooed with conditioner/oil, washed, then DC'ed. If you can find Wanakee's Guide to Hair it would help immensely in regards to doing your hair. I still use the techniques of sectioning my hair off even though I'm natural now. :yep:

You may need to answer more questions like do you use heat, do you DC, what's your technique, etc. When I had matting, it was either product or technique.

Hopefully some of the ladies will chime in with some answers. :yep:

not sure if this is the case with your situtation but...

protein overload makes my hair act like that

if you suspect that might be what's going on, stay away from protein treatments or anything with protein for a lil while and up your moisture and oils

Since I have been using WEN from QVC, I have no more problems with tangles. My hair is thick to the touch but the strands are fine and tangley My hair has always been tangley during wash time but I started using WEN about a month ago and it has been a blessing to me.

Yhanks so much ladies. Now I have some hope. I also realized I haven't clarified in a while so i'm going to try that then try some of the tips you ladies suggested.

I think protien may be the culprit , i dunno but i'm going to try to lay off all protien for a while. Im just so frustrated. My hair usually acts funky every now and then but this is the worst it's ever been.

Do you detangle before you wash and section your hair into braids while washing? Do you then detangle in the shower with a shower comb while rinsing out your conditioner? These steps really helps me in the wash and detangling process. Good luck!
