Joico K-Pak ReconstrX Flat Iron NOT HAPPY!

Im NOT HAPPY today because my Joico Flat Iron just died. I mean out of no where it just died. I purchased back in February from Salon Source. Used it maybe weekly till May then put it on hiatius for the summer, i only used 2 times the entire summer including today. I plugged it in and it was warming up as usual, then i heard like a pop not loud but a pop sound. I went to use it and it wasnt hot enough then i noticed it wasnt on. So i figured maybe i tripped a circuit but nope it just died, it wont turn on at all no matter where i plugg it in. Needless to say im MAD cause this is 8 months old and was not cheap. Im hoping that Salon Source will let me exchange it, if not i will have to send back to Joico and im not happy with their return policy. Not only do i have to pay to send it to them but i have to send a 15.00 check for them to return it to me when its repaired....WTH...it has a year warranty so if its a manufacturing defect i should not have to pay to send it back to them and pay for them to return to me as well. If i have to send back Joico i will definately let them know that they should not be charging me to return especially since i have to pay to send it to them. Has anyone here dealt with returning to Salon Source? I just wonder if they will take it in return even thou its been 8 months, heck its still under warranty.

It is times like these when I am glad I didn't buy that iron. You are still under warranty, so you should be OK.

True, im lucky its still under warranty, i just wish it acted up before the summer so i wouldnt miss using it. But i will look at the bright side.

Ok i called Salon Source about returning my Joico Iron and they said i needed to go thru Joice, (was not happy) i call Joico and long story short they said i need to go thru who i purchased it from since the distributer deals with them not the consumer. So i called SS back and they were nice and said they would take the iron back and exchange. I was told that there have been some problems with this iron so im one of a few folks that had to return it. So ladies if you have issues with your Joico Flat Iron return to who you purchased from dont take no for an answer cause if you return to Joico you will have to pay to send to them and give them money to have it returned back to you.

I'm sorry for your experience but........how did it work? Did it do a great job? Was it worth it? How did it compare to the Maxiglide or other flat irons?

Thank you for sharing this. I have this iron also and ordered it back when there was that long thread about it. I have only used mine 4 times, but I am glad to know there could be problems with it.
I am glad Salon Source agreed to the exchange.

so glad i just ordered the maxiglide. Did anyone try to put the joico fuel in the maxiglide?

This is ridiclous. I orginally purchased this iron last February, in September it went completely dead. I got a replacement and now, the replacement iron i got has not stopped working, I feel justified in saying I do NOT recommend this iron. Im very dissapointed and i hope when i call Salon Source they can give me a completely different brand of iron, because i do not want another Joico ReconstrX iron. To have 2 go dead within 6 months each clearly there is a problem with this iron.

Is anyone else having problems with this iron?? If there is an issue with this iron then I am ready to complain to Joico about my experience.

There are a bunch of bad reviews on Amazon about the same issue you're having. I wanted this iron so bad (a small part of me still does :sekret:) I think I will look elsewhere.

How did you make out with Salon Source? Did they let you get a different brand?

Oh no I just started reading tons of reviews from sleekhair, amazon so this seems like s common issue. I was thinking about purchasing this from a member now I am having second thoughts

So far the Salon Source i ordered from which is in Texas got taken over by another company and of course they have no records from the previous SS, i called Joico, so they say to mail it back to them and they will refund me or exchange. I dont think i want another one if this is a common issue.

The reviews seem to be really mixed on this flat iron. I have a few gift certicates for Amazon and was about to use it. Wonder if its still worth it.
