Last relaxer I stretched for 4.5 months. I would like to relax every 6 months; 2X / yr is ideal.

i used to get relaxers 10-12x a year... when i joined lhcf i went to 6-8x a year then 4-5x a year now i'm on my 1st 6 mos stretch... i would really to get only 2 relaxers a year... wish me luck and congrats on your success...

The longest I've gone is 22 weeks, but I had more breakage than I wanted. I usually stretch for 14-16 weeks. I'm on week 13 now and plan on going 17. I find that when I go more than 18 weeks, new growth gets too unruly and it becomes really hard to manage breakage.

Wow........... Way to go ladies :yay:

As we all know strecthing is not for everyone so if you are having a hard time stretching or see damage or losing hair, by all means do whats best for your hair. There is no need to have damage hair caused by stretching. But what I do know is the days of relaxing every 4-6 weeks are gone, there is absolutely no reason to get a touch up that often :nono:

The longest I have stretch was 21 weeks. And that was for my last relaxer. I'm currently 14 weeks post and I'm planning on relaxing in April at 17 weeks post.

I agree with OP well done ladies on stretching!

The longest I have stretched is 3 months that was End of Dec 10-Mar 11. I was aiming for another 3-4mth stretch but my b'day is coming up and I dont wanna fight with my regrowth LOL so stretching to 9wks and see if I can still manage the regrowth.

Checking in at 21 wks. I just broke my own record of 20 wks. My plan is to relax at 24 wks-6 months. My hair and I are battling every Saturday. I just hope this 6 month stretch will be worth it.

Congrats TLC

I normally stretch for 16 weeks. Right now I've been stretching for over 1 year and 3 months. I have 9 more months to go. After that I'm going to relax sometime in 2012, either February or June of 2012.

Not to digress, I hope you attain the length you are striving for. Congrats

Wow! Share your regi please. Are you hiding your hair while you are stretching?

My longest stretch was about 14 months, but I also kept my hair under sew-ins continuously during that time. My hair has never gone w/o a relaxer for more than 8-9 weeks when I wear it out. I'll try to extend that to at least 12 weeks this round, and if it's successful I'll slowly extend my weeks each relaxer.

Relaxed ladies in the house! :happydance:

I did a pregnancy stretch that included 4 weeks prior to getting pregnant (because I happened to get preggers 4 weeks into my relaxer) and 4 weeks post pregnancy, so right at 46 weeks. I really wanted to go ahead and make a year but couldn't quite get there.

This is my longest so far 5 months and 6 days. I am seeing how my hair feels like, I am almost tempted to relax. I will see if I make it to 6 months.:woohoo:

ETA: I only bun my hair and try to wash every week or it is hard to handle. Of course my edges are not smooth... I live with it for the greater good.

I think I hav stretched for a good 6-8 months before.

Before my HHJ, I used to relax every 4 months. I thought everyone did it. lol.

I kind of feel the same way. Even though my hair stylists would tell me that I needed to come in every 6-8 weeks for a relaxer b/c my hair was so thick, I would still end up going in about every 2 1/2-3 months. But I think that was moreso b/c I didn't have that much money and I can't STAND to sit in a salon all mother-lovin' day. :angry2: I really do hate it. But the funny thing is that, b/c of that, I probably have more hair on my head than the average girl who's bought in to the whole 4-8 weeks relaxer. :yep:

I recently stretched for 9 months. I put my hair in a bunch of single braids for my deployment. I washed them every two weeks, co-washed every two weeks and moisturized and sealed daily. My schedule was like this:

Week 1-Wash and DC braids, the next day rebraid my entire head
Week 2- Co-wash braids
Week 3-Wash and DC braids, the next day rebraid the outer rim of my head
Week 4- Co- wash braids

I repeated that cycle for my entire deployment. It really helped me stretch and I retained my length.

^^^Are you relaxed? What did you do to maintain?

Sorry just seeing this...yes I'm relaxed 4b/a

During the 7 month stretch I:

Shampooed, DC'ed, applied Leave-ins, made 6-8 braids and air dried (when it dried I rocked a braid out updo). With this reggie I co-washed mid-week, applied my leave-ins and re-braided to refresh the style and to add moisture.

Right now my stretches last about 5-6 months and I:

Shampoo, DC, apply Leave-ins, & Roller set.

*For both regimens I moisturize at least once daily (I seal occasionally).
*I also do Aphogee Two-Step about every 8 weeks

hth :)

Technically, I have been transitioning because I was trying to go natural, but I decided last week to get a relaxer. So I've been *stretching*/transitioning for a year. It's been very rough and very hard on my pockets. I have decided to relax after a full year tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to seeing whether this year-long transition/stretch without a relaxer has been harmful or beneficial to my hair. I feel like I've lost a great deal of hair and my hair feels much drier because I didn't know how to keep this thang moisturized. But it may be longer or fuller than it was before. I find out tomorrow and I'm super nervous.:drunk:

My last relaxer was Dec of last year. I'm in the braid challenge, so it's been pretty easy to stretch. I get my hair re-braided on Tuesday and so I might relax in May which will make it a 6 month stretch.

Hi ljbee. Did you relax today? If so, any disappointment? Please post a pic of your relaxed hair and your hair 1 yr ago. Thx.
