Question for VERY LONG HAIRED Curly Naturals re: Shrinkage- WL, HL, TBL, CL, come in!

Ladies,

What length did you have to achieve straight/ stretched in order for your curly hair to fall at BSL/ MBL and or WL?

Shrinkage is something I'm learning to embrace, but at the same time, I'm curious how long it'll take to get to my goal and what length my hair will need to be to rock my hair curly MBL or WL.

Right now, I'm past APL but my curly hair sits between just about SL. Sometimes it's between NL and SL once it's all the way dry. (see my avi pic compared to my siggy pic for reference of current lengths)

Please share how long your stretched hair is and what that length translates to as far as shrinkage. Post any pics of your straight vs. curly or stretched vs. shrinkage. Thanks!!

Everybody's shrinkage is different

Me Tailbone Stretched, just below shoulder length when just wet. I will never know fully dry cause I aint neva gonna let my hair go through all that lol

There is no way for anyone to tell you what to expect as far as your shrinkage ....not that I know of anyway

when you say curly you mean hair in a wash n' go? I measure my shrinkage by a braid out/ twist out because a) rocking a wash n' go for me, won't exceed shoulder length. my hair will get BIGGER but not longer (b/c i'm not trying to go past WL). it doesn't make sense but such is my hair. LOL. b) i would have knots for days and days and days...

now for hair that was set while wet in braids i would have be at least hip length to be BSL with a braid out. i just reached BSL (not full) and my braid outs are shoulder length.

I'm between MBL and WL. My hair is just at shoulder curly :lol:

Initially I wanted WL curly but I honestly don't see that happenning. I would have to be knee length :nono:

Thanks, ladies. For the record, I realize everyone's shrinkage is different. I just wanted to get an idea of where other people end up with shrinkage for a range. Really just a gauge.

My hair is tailbone-ish stretched/straightened, but in the curly state... nowhere near waist, that's for sure. :nono:

Fully dry, naked, shrunken hair is mostly shoulder-length; well-moisturized hair might be mostly APL. If I put a whole lot of effort into a twistout, it just might fall between BSB and MBL.

Shrinkage really is unpredictable though... when my hair was APL-BSB stretched, it shrunk to my shoulders. I would not have expected the shrunken length to change so little when the stretched length has increased so much. I'm another one who might need knee-length hair to appear waist-length with curly hair, :lol:

My hair will NEVER be WL kinky/curly. It would have to touch the floor. My hair is WL straightened and is above my shoulders when shrunken.

I am between MBL and WL stretched. My wash n' go hair is anywhere between SL and BSL depending on product used. Adding glycerin to my gel will lengthen my hair.

I am just now hitting waist length. This is a picture of my hair shrunken (clickable):

But it doesn't really matter to me long my hair hangs completely shrunken, because I almost never wear it like this. Maybe once a year, due to how much this style tangles. So the more important thing to me is how long my hair hangs when stretched in a more common style. My shrunken twists are just a little above apl

And my lightly blown out hair:

I mean it's all different...a curly coworker and I were just talking about our shrinkage today and she said her hair is to her butt though curly it's probably to her brastrap and her curls are looser than mine.

My curls are tight as hell, I could probably grow it to my butt and it would STILL be just below my shoulders.

Meh. This is why everyone was so amazed at my flat ironed hair cause they didn't realize that much was there because of my shrinkage.

Ditto to what everyone else said. My unstretched wash-n-go hair falls somewhere between shoulder and APL depending on the products used, weather, and if the world is still spinning on it's axis. My straightened hair is WL.

Shrinkage is so different from person to person depending on the weight and mass of your hair, the curl size etc.

My hair is around tailbone length stretched and hovers between waist length and hip length when it's down and curly.

Don't worry, there are ways to stretch out your hair if you want to show length and ways to use the shrinkage to your advantage in other hair styles!

Your hair is beautiful! I love watching your youtube vids! Shrinkage or not, your styles are always pretty!
